Hey Guys

Just changed from UDT that was in my newly aquired 4330 to Amsiol ATH. Didn't notice any real difference yet. It did not make any difference in the smoothness of the 3 pt operation that I had hoped for. Hope It was not a waste of $$.

if you had a new tractor it was filled with Super UDT - which is already a synthetic. If your going to spend the $$$ anyway, why not just stay with the fluid designed for the tractor. I can't recall anyone ever thinking their was an advantage to any other fluid.

Tom -- The Grande Ls use Super UDT, so unless somebody else had replaced it with regular UDT you went from one synthetic to another.

I read that on here all the time..BUT..?
I bought a new B3030 last september..the very last day of the month. When it was delivered..I ran it around the yard for a few hours..playing with it..and then stopped and checked the oil..fluid..etc..etc. NOTHING showed on the hyd dipstick!!!! I immediately called the dealer..and he told me they had blown a hyd line with the FEL..and he had TOLD the "dunce" in the shop to make sure it was filled back up ( which it wasnt!!) so they sent a repair guy out the very next morning. HE topped it off with UDT..?? and as I was talking with him he said they dont even stock SUDT and only order it in special for customer that wanted it?????

Now..with all that said...does the "HST come filled at the FACTORY..or is it a dealer filled thing??? And regardless of which...the Kubota dealer sure dont thinks its no biggie to run it ( evidently??) with a 50/50 mic of UDT / SUDT!!

Ive called the service depts in 3 different Kubota dealers.. ( Im near cincinnati Ohio)..1 being my own near dealer..one in KY and one in NY state..told them ( that wasnt familiar with this area) the temp swings..my planned usage..etc..and ALL THREE told me not to bother using SUDT..and for my front end ( I have no idea what the factory uses for the front axle) to use 80-90 wgt gear oil and dont bother with SUDT in the front axle!

Between dealers ( 3 different ones) and the owners manual..."stuff" just dont JIVE????

Don't worry so much about what all the ignorant dealers say or don't say, just use SUDT (or a suitable full synthetic multigrade) instead of straight grade UDT in all your HST & GST Kubota's.

they are all filled from the factory with SUDT. You'll find shops with different outlooks on this. We fill every tractor we work on with SUDT, it does add a fair amount of $$ to the cost of the service. Our shop guys are really set on doing things the best way possible. Using UDT is not detrimental or anything. Some people do notice that the tranny makes more noice and does not operate as smoothly. Its particualy important in the RTV.

The amount of noise and sharp abrupt unsmooth operation of both our L-3130 GST and L-39 GST trannys with UDT is unbelieveably bad news, no way would I want to operate either one of them for 400 hrs with a straight cut hydraulic fluid.

Our ZD-21 is absolutely absymal if you try to use UDT in it, the two HST trannies just scream and whine so loud it is horrible, with SUDT it is the absolute quietest diesel powered machine on the planet.

I changed the fluid because the previous owner of the tractor said the current fluid was straight UDT not SDUT. Tractor has 600hrs and is a 4330 HST. I purchased the Amsoil because.

1) My Kubota dealer told me that SUDT is in fact NOT synthetic fluid!!!!
2) Amsoil is regarded highly here on TBN.

I am not stating that the Amsoil is not great fluid! I simply have not noticed any difference in smoothness or noise levels in comparrison to the UDT that was changed out! Hence the comment "I hope Amsoil synthetic ATH was not a waste of $$$".

A couple of years ago I called Kubota Corp here in the USA and asked if SUDT was synthetic. The answer was NO. So if anyone has any reason to believe it's synthetic - I'd like to see it.

Rich

I use synthetic hydraulic oil and it makes a difference in cold weather with the HST and less whine from the HST under load.
