I do not normally post about oils and lubricants. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif I have been watching this thread. Waiting for the person that would finally come to the conclusion that SUDT was not SYNTHETIC.
Back in 2000 I had some problems with power steering on my B2910. Kubota told me at that time it was not Synthetic. Glad you called for the correct answer. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Well I sure didnt know?? I had seen posted here that IT WAS...and I had seen posted here that IT WASNT? Someone made a post that they had called Kubota and told it wasnt..and I thought.."What the HE**"...Ive for free unlimted long distance phone service...LOL

I guess what I dont comprehend NOW..is why Kubota makes TWO different fluids?? The RETAIL costs is about 50% higher ( as was priced to me) but we know the ACTUAL cost isnt going to be that much...and we also know that when you make 3-4 times as much of a product..as compared to "X" amount ( 1/2) of TWO products..the cost per unit goes DOWN??? Geeze!! Awe well..decisions, decisions...lol

No more usage ( and not hard usage at that) I'll most probably stick to my "game plan" and use the SUDT when the time comes. The $25 more for 5 gallons isnt any biggie...and it will be a LONG time between changes for me anyway..so that amount of $$ spred over 2-3 years..is a pittance actually

Actually, the Kubota SUDT sold in Europe and Asia is biosynthetic, ie it is made from a soybean methyl ester base, however the SUDT sold is North America is multi-grade dino.

Bet you did not know that! /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

At the risk of not being 100% correct, I can offer this: NH does the same thing with their F200 fluid in that it's certainly more suitable for cold weather (year-round is what they call it) operation, but it's still not synthetic. Can't imagine what the cost of it, or SUDT would be if it was. Guess I'm back to looking at Amsoil or Chevron.

As a note, the premium udt in Canada is not the same as in the US. It is a product of another oil company and may be synthetic if I recall.

Well, that sells it for me. If the SUDT is not synthetic, Amsoil, here I come. :)
Yeah, I dug up this old thread, but at least I didn't start a new one to rehash things. ;)

Good luck, I've tried twice now to get info from two different places on Amsoil, and I've got nothing both times, I'm beginning to believe it's a myth.

Does anyone know the ratings on the SUDT oil so I can get something that will work from Amsoil? I would think there would be some ratings that it has to match. (ie. API MT-1, GL-2 THROUGH GL-5)

The last time I saw all the specifications on SUDT and Amsoil, the SUDT had better specifications all the way around. Especially true of the cold weather ability. So if having a synthetic is what is most important, then check into Amsoil, Chevron etc., all synthetic but if having the better product specifications is more important, the SUDT was the last time I saw the figures, superior. Things may have changed.

I think I remember this being posted further back in the thread.
Amsoil Homepage:
Amsoil

Link to the oil:
Synthetic Tractor Hydraulic/Transmission Oil

Amsoil is not sold at places like Tractor Supply, auto stores etc.. It is sold by independant dealers (see web site) and you can order online direct from them. The Synthetic Tractor Hydraulic/Transmission Oil is listed as a replacement oil for Kubota UDT.
