I just bought an Echo 2511t clone for $99. What was I thinking?

That is the exact same reason I ended up selling Holzfforma. i needed something big enough to split/rip long logs to fit into my firewood processor. 661 was just too much for a single purpose saw so I started looking at the Holz. I ended up with a G660 Pro for $459. After the 2nd tank I was hooked. I still hold that price on the Pro. The regular G660 is a fine saw too and only $347. A 36" B&C set is $125. Shipping can be a bit painful for the big bars and if FT has any kind of sale going on they will have a better price. It's weird having the manufacturer also be your competitor but that's they way it is with anything from China.
First one I bought was out of curiosity really. G660. Was back before clear tanks too. It had 210psi. More then the 160psi the new clear tanks ones have.

But the new clear tank ones cut great too. Just different cylinders just like oem did over the years.

I just wanted to see if it would cut like my oem 066's and 660's I had and owned to past.

Was very impressed and buying them for years now. Just have to know how to trouble shoot and work on your own saws just like anything IMHO.

I put a DP cover on mine like I ran on oem.

I used to try and get all blue ones. But they dont offer that anymore.

Do you have a picture of the current version of the 660 Pro?

Besides the Egan pipe.

I think I am going to also try the version 2 of a cnc muffler of a guy in my group from NY.

He showed me video's and it appears to respond like the Egan pipe one does. Big time gains

Just not impressed from wcs mufflers for these. Ya better then stock but how much better then just modded oem muffler.

On the WCS mufflers I have to file away about half of the rear mounting tab because they are made for the OEM saw which has an aluminum plate along with the muffler gasket. The clones don't have the plate so the muffler sets closer to the engine. And of course you have to use shorter screws because the clone mufflers have internal spacer tubes something like a MS180 or MS250.

This is good to know ahead of time.

Letting another guy know as he going to test all 3 back to back on a clone stock before going wild on it.

Guess that is one thing never thought of being the egan pipe goes on oem and clone no tab to worry about.

  • This is my first attempt at making a cutting comparison video
  • Cut in 5 1/2" dry oak
  • My Echo is set too rich.
  • The Nano chain is much smoother than the 3/8" low profile
  • In current state, they are closer than I would have guessed.
  • The Echo will get faster when tuned right
  • I will get better with the Joncutter when I get some experience avoiding that chatter
  • I love both saws

My first V-Modesst took every bit of 10 tanks full to reach its maximum power.
