greatrandini got it right about the Shingles, exepting maybe the old folks part. I got them on the left side of my rib cage. It felt like someone had hit me in the ribs with a ballbat, man are they painful and itch like you cannot believe. Pustules on your body like boils, what a fun ailment. I had Chicken Pox as a kid and you have to have had them to get Shingles. My son got Chicken Pox when he was four. They weakened his immune system and he got a viral infection in his blood and we almost lost him. I recommend the innoculations, it could save you or a family member. Bacteria and viruses are continually evolving, thats why the flu epidemic killed so many in the early 1900's. The Bird flu stands a good chance of doing the same. I will still shake your hand, but go easy on the grip (arthritis). I will still take precautions, washing or hand sanitizers, but I will not bump your elbow.
