bradyky, the price of this NH has already put us over budget. I don't think there's room for another buck. Also, if we got a new Kubota from a dealer other than the one in town I don't know how we could show our faces there. ;) I'm not sure how they do on price but the local dealer has a good reputation.

Do you need a tractor this big? What do you plan on using the tractor for? I have two friends with Bommers, a TC33 and a TC45. The second friend just likes to buy big and use his tractor to maintain 400 feet of dirt driveway. If he put 20 hours on it in the last two years I would be surprized. My point is the deal is only good if it suits your needs.

It sounds like to me you just want a Kubota, not a bad thing. If not then you probably would have picked up that NH by now. Around here NH tractors sell for less, both new and used (not a bad thing). I've never really looked at them so I really don't know but it looks like a good price.

crazyal, if it were just me I would have already bought the NH, but this is my girlfriend's purchase. A few weeks back I had the opinion that Kubota was significantly better than any other brand. As I've done more research I've decided that the difference in brand isn't as much as I thought. Cindy has a lot going on right now and it's taken some time for me to catch her up on my new point of view. I believe she's going to call this NH dealer soon and make an offer.

I wouldn't even dream about buying a machine without looking at it. You would be amazed at what some guys can do wrong in 5 hours!!

That said, when my brother first went tractor shopping years ago (he now owns a Kubota L5030) he asked a tractor mechanic what he thought about Kubota. His response? "What, you mean the one that doesn't break down?"

Make mine orange!!

Well this IS the Kubota section....

This tractor has never left the dealer's lot, these are demo hours. I'm comparing it to Kubotas that have several hundred hours of unknown treatment and possible bad maintenance to this new machine with basically no work hours.

One way to decide if you need to buy the NH or not is post the name of the dealer. When you go back the tractor will be gone, someone who reads this thread will buy the tractor and you will be left "Deciding".

This will be my beautiful and sexy girlfriend's tractor. I'm "shopping" and she is "deciding".

(See sweetheart, I told you they think it's a wise purchase...;))

So how do you add the NEXT 1,000 lbs - once your tires are full and you're loaded up with suitcase weights ? and BTW, if your pulling anything with the Ku_Boo you WILL NEED to add a LOT of weight.

Right; light is right - for mowing.
Mowing is mowing, there are different machines that are better suited to THAT task.

Why would you want to? Kubota builds machiines like the B-26 an L39 and the L-48 and the M-59 most recently introduced that cover most sides of weight with far more hydraulic power then any tractors close! These are the near legends for flexibility and they have created new markets from their ability.

If you want a tillage tractor buy a farm tractor at 110 to 120 lbs per horsepower. The heaviest of these come in productively at 130lbs per horsepower max, at this point they feel and act sluggish and are nearly unresponsive on hills when throttled up.

Why would you what the manufacturer to pick where you add ballast? I'd rather buy and be able to pick the use of a tractor then have a manufacter dictate to me what I can use a tractor for.

For the lawn the best would be about 60 to 70 for good numbers and if you add some loader work 80 is fine for a maximum lbs per horsepower for the average home owner. Just try and balance it at about 30 to 70%for best overall balance with a loader.

Talk sweet to that gal and tell her to hurry up and by that tractor before it's gone. That's a good deal. AND, I don't own a Kubota or a New Holland. BUT, if I'd a found a deal like that I would've considered it even if it was green (well maybe).

I don't particularly (like Ku_bobos).
They're too high priced for what you actually get and lack mass (weight where it counts).
Weight translates to traction if you're pulling ground engaging implements, I would rather have it in the tractor than have to add it as ballast.
If light is right - e.g. for ONLY mowing, maybe Ku_Boo is watcha need.

FWIW, etc.

This is among the silliest things I've read regarding the pros and cons of buying a Kubota. First, the price issue is primarily an issue for those who don't know how to compare machines. My L4400 cost less than the comparable JD990 and all the comparable NH and MFs out there (at least in my area). The thrid party players also had nothing to match the specs vs price. So the idea that you pay for more than you get with a Kubota is....BUSTED!

As for weight, well, that's a pretty narrow view on weight. Most CUTs and SCUTs in this market are not used for ground engagement. That's not what this market is about. And yet, I can take my L4400 4wd (which might be one of the lightest 45 hp tractors on the market) and pull a 2 bottom plow through never-been-plowed earth (rocks and clay) that hasn't had more than 1.5 inches of rain on it in the last three months and bust it up like it was potting soil. Why on earth would you want any more weight?

And the idea that light is only good for mowing, is, well, a joke....which I'm assuming is how you intended it. But, like I've said before, I can tow my tractor with my F150 with no problems. But if it were any heavier, I'd need a bigger truck. I don't want a bigger truck.

So as you can see, weight, or lack thereof, has not hindered me in the slightest and any more weight would be a waste of metal, gas, and towing headaches.

Makes you suspect that maybe Kubota is using better materials than some of these 'heavy' and less expensive machines.

But don't get me wrong, brand has nothing to do with it. But the idea that you can get quality without paying for it and that heavier is always, or even usually, better is just sadly mistaken. Regardless of your favorite color.
