Thanks for all the kind words! In welding class, the instructor not only wants good welds, he wants them pretty too. I agree that I'd rather have them work though.

Ron; Thats a Lincoln Idealarc AC/DC 250 that I've got. I "think" it's a bit more than a buzzbox, but my terminology could easily be off. To change polarity, all I have to do is rotate a switch, and can also go AC with the same switch. The guy I bought it from used it to weld structural steel. Actually, it was easier welding in the driveway than it is at the school. I could rotate the piece as I wanted instead of in an out of position fixture like the instructor wants. I think the class is a little more than I needed since it's geared more for industrial . All in all, I've done MIG with no problem, and am starting TIG tommorow. I easily get pretty welds with the MIG. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Johnday,
You should check your tractors owners manual, there are weight limits on pulling with your 3 point hitch. It would be better to pull from your drawbar for the heavier items.

Johnday,
BTW, great job on the hitch adapter. I built one for myself a few months ago, just to jockey my trailer around.

Nice job , good useable project. Just keep that ol Lincoln fired up, you'll be amazed at what you can accomplish.

John,

I just started a new welding class myself. I am looking forward to making a few projects and yours was rather inspirational!!! Look good and functional and that is the name of the game!

Cliff; Good for you. I only wish I'd taken the time years ago to learn to weld. My class started out with stick, thats really all I wanted to learn. Then we interupted with MIG. Mig is so easy it's unbelievable. I start TIG tommorow. I've heard many stories about TIG, so I'm keeping an open mind. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Good luck in your classes, have fun, and practice, practice, practice. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

The one thing I was told rite of the bat was to forget everthing I thought I knew about welding.....the instructor is great and wouldn't you know after the first night I was already making better welds. I am starting out with MIG and then will probably do some SMAW and then some TIG. It is going to be fun!

I have all kinds of ideas for things to make and new attachemnts to fabricate!
