Thanks for all the kind words! In welding class, the instructor not only wants good welds, he wants them pretty too. I agree that I'd rather have them work though.
Ron; Thats a Lincoln Idealarc AC/DC 250 that I've got. I "think" it's a bit more than a buzzbox, but my terminology could easily be off. To change polarity, all I have to do is rotate a switch, and can also go AC with the same switch. The guy I bought it from used it to weld structural steel. Actually, it was easier welding in the driveway than it is at the school. I could rotate the piece as I wanted instead of in an out of position fixture like the instructor wants. I think the class is a little more than I needed since it's geared more for industrial . All in all, I've done MIG with no problem, and am starting TIG tommorow.
