I might have a lessons learned situation

Hey folks,

Here is my report. I took the Wally world Never Start!! I mean Ever Start battery in and topped off the charge overnight. I took the battery to work and after work took the scenic route to my farm.

Checked all the connections and could not improve anything since they did not look bad. Put the battery on, tighten the leads, 15 second of glowing and started it. She perked right up and starter to purr like a kitten:.

There were no hesitation or ill effect on the part of the starter and no funny noise, smoke or anything alarming. Moved a few things with the tractor and parked it in the barn. I turned it off and turned it back on just for good measure

Thanks all for suggestions and word of wisdom. I'll get a float charger and keep the battery topped off over the winter hibernation.

It's so easy for me to forget that some folks have to deal with long winters. Sure, we have our cold spells, but the times I need more than a jacket and pair of gloves to operate during the winter here would normally only add up to two weeks total.

Yes sir, we're getting our winter clothes out for sure, but really I can tell in the last 20 years the climate has changed in kansas overall. It is not like what is used to be. it seems more and more coastal climate in US is getting more unpredictable and its affecting the middle of county to more mild and temperate condition. it's "global colding " if you asked me. I'm going to Manhattan to pick my son up this am and will stop at HF to pick up a float charger and check the rest.

Glad you didnt burn anything up JC! I've been on vacation up in the Texas hill country, so I havent been on til recently. I made a mistake of my own last summer the day hurricane ike hit here. I needed to move some trees but the battery was dead in the 1700 and there was no power for a week so I couldnt charge it. Took the battery out of the truck and put it in the tractor, got it started, and then hot swapped the dead battery back into the tractor so it would charge (while it was running). Well it didnt like me doing that, at times now the alt wont charge a lower rpms. I need to go through the alt and check the components. Wouldnt normally swap like that, but was in a pinch at the time and I guess I recklessly did it. Im such a bad tractor owner! lol Thanks TB

JC, for my money this jumper battery would be my choice because of all its features. The only thing I don't like about this one is that the cables are AWG 6 instead of AWG 4. Even so, it has more power and all the features you need including a 400W AC outlet.

It looks pretty good. The redundant part of it for me is the invertor and the compressor as I have both of them twice. probably, I rather one smart jumper starter in maybe a smaller package.

I went to HF and ended up buying this thing http://bit.ly/3tbmda along with this float charger http://bit.ly/2J1yey. The one you suggested was pretty good but I already have several 12 volt air compressor and inverters.
