Can you paint a dipstick white,or use fingernail polish or something,or will it disolve from the oil?The super udt in my KUBOTA tranny is tough to see on that dipstick,the stuff is almost clear.thanks ahead

NH 134 is the same way. I blot the stick on a clean paper towel. The wet strip on the paper shows up much better than the oil does on the stick.

Rick, that is a good Idea. I was wondering if there was colored hy/tran oil. I don't have any trouble seeing engine oil. After the first day it is black as night.

I always drill a 1/16" hole right at the FULL mark on my dipsticks. It make a big difference in seeing the oil at the mark.

Just did my new 15kw Generac's dipstick last week...

Joys of the Bifocal age!! Then there are the little black floaters to help matters.

The drilled hole sounds like a very good idea.

Just a slight dimple with a center punch will help also.

Like the gentleman said... the hole drilled is the key. I do one at full mark and at add mark. I also take really fine steel wool every now and then and clean the dip stick keeping it shinny and new.

I knew a guy who painted the end of his dipstick white, up to the full line. I'd think if you clean the stick well enough and give the paint plenty of time to dry and cure, this should work for quite a while.............
