I need a new computer

I guess everyones experience is different. For my family I currently have three operating desktops and 5 laptops. The oldest desktop is about 7 years old and the oldest laptop is about 5 years old. We did have a small cheap laptop fail a couple of years ago but others have just become obsolete over the last 10 years or so, so I just scavenge the hard drives, monitors, etc.

Does the keyboard work to get into bios? If it does, put linux on it and be done with windows....

Nope - total USB failure. (and no old school PS/2 ports) which is why I pretty much gave up on HP support when they said it was a "Software Problem" since it won't even read keystrokes in BIOS. Tried several keyboards too just for giggles.

I buy "Lenovo" desk tops off ebay for less than $100
The one I'm on now is faster than I can think! ;-0 Linux is free...

the windoze system in the lab is more than needed. I woud like the new machines to include "legacy" serial port connections.

OH well, surfing must have it's value ..somewhere. ;-)
