I need a power easement

My daughter and SIL just went through this and are in process of getting power. The closest power point was a transformer on neighbor's property, existing easement was not feasible (digging up pavement, etc), so neighbor granted new easement to power company to run a different route. My daughter and SIL dug the trench, layed the conduit and after approval, are back filling the ditch. They should have power in next couple weeks. Their total length is around 500 feet on rocky hillside.. good fun for novice backhoe operators.

I'm in Rabun county...was wondering who your local power company is...is it GP or a co-op ?

When we move down from AK, I had the driveway constructed on my 30' by one mile easement. The power company installed the overhead power right down the edge of same easement. Thank goodness it could go overhead and didn't have to be buried. Having power brought in - one mile, eleven poles - cost $4250 in 1982.

I have a summer residence in Nova Scotia with nine poles 90 meters apart.
Power company charged me $12,100 13 years ago for the installation.
They wanted a 40' wide tree cutout.
They instead agreed to stagger the poles, back and forth across the cleared driveway width (about 25' wide), but I had to pay for a guy wire on each pole.
Now, 13 years later, the wires and poles are not at all obtrusive.
I have had one tree related power loss in 13 years.
