I want to purchase a rear mount snowblower. The reason why I want to purchase a rear mount is because I use my FEL often throughout the year. My driveway is about 1600 ft long. I live in northern Wisconsin. The Brand's I have looked up are farm King 500, and woodmaxx sb60.

Any experience with any of these models or advice would be appreciated.

I would think the hot air from the lawyer would remove the snow better than a blower.......(ha ha)

Seriously, as long as the blower is big enough and in good condition (not rusted or falling apart) you should be fine no matter what brand. Just look on Craigslist for a used one; worst case you can just resell it.

One thing you should keep in mind is buy one that is wide enough to cover your rear tire tracks. Check the specs on your tractor for PTO HP to ensure you are able to run the blower you might be considering.

I do not have direct experience with the brands you mentioned, however I researched them along with other brands a few years back. I ended up buying a Provonost and am very pleased with its build and performance.

You might find a great deal used, but I found that any decent ones are scooped up quickly. I looked for almost 2 years before I ended up buying new. Good luck, a blower is invaluable when the big snow hits.

I have had the Woodmaxx SB60 with electric chute and electric Auger and 2 auxiliary LED lights for 3 years now. I love it....suggest getting at least a softcab like my Berco cab and rear tire chains for when its icy.. What do you need to know?

What tractor are you running this on. What's the minimum snow fall it will work decent on. Also how is it holding up?

I have the MF GC2410 which is the model just before yours. I used it yesterday to clean up 1-1.5 inches of snow and it did very well but thats on an asphalt driveway. On gravel you may not be able to clean it perfectly. You have to adjust the feet and angle of the snowblower pitch to get it the way way you want to. So it has feet you can adjust, the pitch using the top link you can adjust and the blade under you can adjust. The shoot is layered with a mylar plastic to make it slippery and add protection from rocks.

I think this snowblower will outlast me-its extremely heavy duty-the impeller blade is a monster and you can feel the tractor sway when the impeller is in motion :)

I once made the mistake of getting a bit to close to a steel pole embedded in concert and got caught in the auger literally throwing the blower and the tractor one side to the other....no damage not even a paint scrape. I have clogged the chute once with very heavy wet snow layered in ice because I went to fast - but its easy to clear. I have also had frozen phone books and newspaper go though as well as big chunks of ice. As with any blower it will not work well in wet heavy snow.

The snowblower/loader combo will really make your whole tractor really long so dont expect to be able to turn in tight spots very well. I destroyed a couple of things that way like my duck coop.

I had an M K Martin rear moungt snowblower, and it was good quality and reasonably priced. I sold it and bought an M K Martin Rear Pull Snowblower which I absolutely love. Iowa Farm Equipment had the cheapest prioce around - even with shipping. Your tractor may be a little small for that type.

The Farm King 500 is a 50" snowblower (weighs 422 pounds) and the WoodMaxx SB60 is a 59" snowblower (weighs 695 pounds), maybe you might look at the Farm King 600 to better compare the equipment?

I would strongly suggest running your driveway with your tractor in a "dry run" by driving the 0.3 mile driveway in reverse and looking rearward for at least 3 passes in a row.

After doing that, you might be ready (after you work the kink out of your neck) to consider a front mounted snowblower or snow blade system?

Looking at the prices, both of these snowblowers are about $1000 less then a MF front mounted snowblower.

In the end, it's your decision and your neck, but I most always will vote for front mounted equipment when available.

You might also consider a forward driving rear mounted snowblower?

Good luck with your search and final decision.

Had a 60” Woods on my 1710. Have the MF front mount on the 1723e, wouldn’t go back if you paid me.

I understand. But I need my FEL for my hobby Farm. Rear mount it has to be. Did the 1710 do fine? I don't care about looking back.
