I need help deciding on new trailer

/ I need help deciding on new trailer #111
I guess I have heard of the shackle straps for one axle "flipping" during braking when light, but have only heard of both axles flipping when the trailer was moved around, such as when loading on another trailer, with a fork lift or something, and both axles were hanging unsupported. In which case the dealer should have corrected.

Maybe quality control issue at dealer level rather than OEM?

that makes sense I picked it up directly at the factory not the dealer so they probably lifted it with a forklift or something. The front on one side was flipped and the rear on the other. This does seem more likely than installing it incorrectly. Either way doesn't seem to have caused any harmand I am much happier with it now.

Tow it around light and see if it happens again.

Looks like the tongue is not "wrapped" all the way to the axle as is usually seen. I am not totally convinced that doing that adds a whole lot of strength but most of the trailers I have seen either "wrap" it all the way or not at all. You have any thoughts on that?

Nice looking trailer

Yeah I was always under the impression that high-quality trailers run that tongue all the way back. But after I got to thinking about it I can't really see what it does other than add weight. On a really heavy duty trailer maybe as rigidity. But for my 10K I can't see that making a bit of difference. I will say that having that opening there is handy for inspection purposes. I like to keep an eye on the wires that run the brakes. Every now and then a squirrel will nip one or a branch will catch one. The trailer has 5200 pound axles and weighs in just a little over 2100 pounds. it's exactly what I was looking for.

I guess I would think that using that weight to increase the size of the frame rails would be better, as long as the tongue is tied into the frame rails and not just to a cross member.

However, I make no claims of being a trailer engineer.
