Welcome to the board TexasOaks! Hopefully these guys can steer you in the right direction.
If there is only one dealership and you don't have a trailer then I would say you are pretty much locked into green paint. If you are planning on buying a trailer then that opens it up a bit.
Have you actually gone and tried out any tractors yet? That can be a very important part of the equation, especially if you are extra large or extra small. Some tractors just fit different people better than others.
I really think on a property that size you will be happier with a 45 - 50 hp tractor. These modern tractors really are reliable and anything under 500 hours should be good for MANY years to come. Tractors hold their value really well though so it is hard to find a good deal on a used one sometimes, especially if you factor in the 0% interest that many of the manufacturers provide on the brand new models.
As far as bang for the buck, Kubota's
L4400 (44 hp) seem to be pretty good. You can get them for around $18,000 brand new with a loader. They are manual shifters and have a pretty solid reputation. I haven't seen a used one for sale though.
I've told you before I got my 1996 Kubota
L4200 (45 hp) for $12,000 last year with just under 1,000 hours on it. So far it has been trouble free and I'm really happy with it.
I would for sure check out your local John Deere dealer though and see what they can do for you.
Good luck!
