I Ordered DeWalt Tools From China

Two weeks ago I bought a DeWalt Compact Sawzall from Amazon and with battery and charger it was about $220.

Yesterday I get a pop up ad which advertised a DeWalt 10-piece cordless tool set with two 18-volt batteries, case, chargers覧-for $77. I bought it on a leap of faith. It may be legit, it may be defective, it may be junk but I bought it. Let痴 face it, most of our tools are made there anyway and they are fine. I will let you know.

Was browsing my local "surplus" store a few years ago and ran across a floding saw. I own a lot of saws but never heard of a floding saw. Upon inspection I learned it was folding saw. English can be a tough language.

I received a small booklet on PTO operation when I purchased my chipper. In big block letters on the front it said:

I paid with PayPal so it will be OK. I also printed the ad and order documents. If I’m out $77 then so be it,. we all got go HarborFreight and buy stuff we normally wouldn’t because of questionable quality, but it does work. I will be glad to share my story once it unfolds.

Many items bought IN China are sold at 1/5th (or less) the price we pay for them here.

Within 2 days all 3 lots were cancelled and I was refunded.

DeWalt carefully monitors EBay and other sites for 'back door prices' and other fraudulent offers.

You will often see great prices for batteries but never for DeWalt ones, for some reason however they let bare tool discount prices ride.

I've found some great name brand tool bargains on E-Bay (usually from pawn shops, mostly Nevada). I always suspected they "fell off a truck" but the sellers are very clear that they have followed all local laws regarding notification to law enforcement.

Bare tools are becoming the norm in many legit retail stores now as well as the internet. They are hardly "discounts" when you figure in the cost to buy the batteries and charger (the parts that are most likely to fail first). It's a marketing gimmick initiated by the manufacturers. Same concept as Gillette razor blades (give the razor body away but gouge on the blades) and Hewlett Packard ink jet cartridges (give the printer away but gouge on the ink).

I buy stuff from china all the time. I have to pay an arm and a leg to ship from the States but most of the stuff I buy from China is FREE shipping or a buck or so. I don't understand it. Frustrates me.

I found a really good price on a hydraulic hex crimper and it had a "make an offer" option. I did, never heard anything and the listing was gone! It's amazing how many of the same thing, from different vendors there are in China.

It makes me realize how we get totally ripped off here, as to what the stuff really costs.

How true!

I traveled to China in my past working life, and it still makes me sick when I have to pay US prices.

I just sold my Canada summer home, so I know it is even worse for you,.... and then HST to boot.

No wonder at all that when I volunteered at Habitat (Restore) I saw piles and piles of stuff written off by Home Depot, like it wasn't worth anything. Because it wasn't! lol
