Why are these posts being deleted?
Generally when a post is deleted, it is because the poster wasn't following the rules on TBN (being rude, cursing, posting spam, etc). If you have a question about a specific post, you should pm Muhammad and ask him...

I have a L3240 and can definitely relate to the low power on hills. This spring, I was spraying my CRP and the trips to the field packing 150 gallons of water seemed to be a bit aggrevating for the cars behind me on the big hill I had to climb. Climbed the same hill with bare tractor or small implement and went 15mph all the way.

On the subject of hydraulic use killing engine RPM, This summer I needed to lift a shooting house into position with my pallet forks and I was hitting the relief valve with the house a little over waist high, just wouldn't go any higher. I "adjusted" the pressure to 2900 and set the house up on the base, about 7' high. The next day I "re-adjusted" the pressure back to the published 2600 (2560, but I rounded off). With the pressure at 2900, I noticed more of a drop in RPM when using the hydraulics.
In my opinion, the raised pressure of OP's hydraulic system is adding to his situation.

couple things,

Fred: love your posting style and obvious skill level. THis thread was awesome, and entertaining. I hope you didn't leave for good I'd like to pick your brain on a few things. Also if you're ever up my way you're always welcome in my shop for a beer, we'd get along great.

1) Fred's 100% right on the ULSD to regular fuel deal. If anything regular fuel is 100% better for your machine. That whole only run on ULSD is load of horse **** brought to you by the EPA and it's minions.

2) I wouldn't be surprised if something is amiss somewhere, the RPM drop doesn't sound right to me. Anyway, if the tractors smoking heavy you're right on the money and you're going to pick up a ton of power with a turbo. Smoke is wasted power. I'm still shocked at how much mine smokes even with a turbo, I think it's do to the engine's indirect injection characteristics. Either way I want to play with mine also but don't have the time right now, I'm in the middle of an in-frame on my pickup.

How do you adjust hydro pressure? I need to do that.

Like many people I have watched this post with lots of interest but never commented. My opinion of Fred has changed from thinking he was just trying to cause controversy to understanding his point of view.I previously owned an L3240 with loader and backhoe and found it underpowered for the weight. It is one of the main reasons I no longer own it.I would very much appreciate Fred sharing his turbo install with TBN members if he would.I am quite interested in how it turns out.Good luck Fred

needs a fuel filter

This is one of the reasons we have 29 pages on a turbo install. The fuel filter is new.
Any other ideas?

Fred, How's the weather where you are? Cold here.

How it came about can be debated, but if your engine has an emissions system on the exhaust (EGR, DPF, Catalytic Converter, DEF, etc) running anything but ULSD can be a very expensive mistake...

And what is Fred's mistake?
