I think I have screwed up on my Gravel Drive

My daughters driveway has similar stone,,, it was "washboarding" real bad.

Friday, (she was away for the weekend) I went over and "crown stockpiled" the excess stone.

The center can have a crown with no problems, I have done that before on my driveway.

Then, when you need a little more stone, simply flatten the driveway crown a little.

Stockpiling in the center works great!!

You want what passed through the screen that stopped your gravel. Pure sand may be too small to firmly fill the spaces in your gravel.

I surprised no one suggested this yet -- if you have top dressing stones there already on top of your existing driveway, have you considered in removing a section of top dressing stones to see if the existing driveway is still there intact? if so then just remove the top dressing the best you can down to a single layer of top dressing in a section like 10 ft worth of so and test . if it much better then you can remove the rest of the driveway to same thickness. alot of work, but better then spending money on new stones/sand/fines. However i have a nagging suspicion that since you already have a good existing hard packed driveway, the new top dressing will still be like marbles on top even down to thin layer. I really dont know what your driveway looked like before and whats really underneath. too many variables. maybe if you are lucky , you have crusher run on top of your existing driveway and if you get your new top dressing all removed to the side and boxblade your whole driveway with rippers down. this would loosen your crusher run. put a nice thin layer of your top dressing stones on top before it compacts down and it should all lock in rolling the driveway. this should work in my opinion.
