I would give some consideration to switching to a ground cover that grows to an acceptable height and never needs mowing. I have a type of bluegrass like that around my windbreak on the north and west side of the house. It grows about 10" tall and falls over and I don't have to mow it.

Remove the rocks as mentioned and get a ZTR like a Ferris or Simplicity with real spring over shocks suspension. They ride much better over rough terrain and your back will thank you!

He doesn't want a ground contact deck and for his application I agree with him. I mowed my rough lawn, I guess it's more of a field that I keep mowed, with my B2650 and 72" mmm and all the holes and bumps were really bouncing the deck, and me.

This is ultimately what I did, bought a Ferris 2100 with a 61" deck. The deck is suspended so it doesn't bang around plus even though it has smaller wheels than the B2650 it actually gives a smoother ride allowing me to drive it faster. Part of the nicer ride might be that the seat is closer to the ground so I don't get tipped back and forth so much each time one wheel drops in a hole or up a mound. The Ferris' suspension obviously helps some as well. Net result is even with a 12" smaller deck I get it mowed much faster and in more comfort. Or LOL maybe "less discomfort" is more accurate. Plus the ZTR is a hoot to drive!
