I think I want a Yanmar???

I got the above info from yanmarowners.com. I said its not worth the $8900 from my own opinion based off what I see them sell for all the time.

As far as the 2cyl vs the 3cyl (I have both) the 2cy is only a bit louder / more clanky at low rpms, put both at 2000rpm or higher the 3cyl is just as loud and anyone operating these machines should be wearing ear protection. I do not prefer either or, I like both and wouldn't not by one based on the number of cylinders.

Hey guys. Thanks so much for your help. I'm like an old lady moving furniture around. Now I am looking at new. Specifically Kioti. :)

Cheers

If you were thinking of paying $9k for a used 30 year old tractor that is only 18 hp, you better bet id be looking new. Kioti or manihandra most likely.

I agree plus most tractor dealers have low financing on new tractors.
Buying used from a dealer you are going to pay more than if buying used privately. Check Craigslist and Ebay for used tractors locally to you.

Cash is king ! I have always gotten better deals (vehicles, tractors, etc,.) paying Cash.

I agree that cash is king when buying a used tractor but most average homeowners don't have an extra 10K laying around to pay that cash price but could afford a couple hundred a month on a payment for a new CUT or SCUT. I don't know the financial status of the OP so I mentioned that financing option to buy new.

Ya I don't have the cash to buy outright that's for sure. I would do 50% down on a new machine. :)

I bought a YM 1500, (1975-1980). Its a grey tractor, no ROPS or safety swithes at all. Paid $2000 for the tractor by itself. On the coast here in south carolina it does a great job in the sandy soil that we have. Ive put 150 trouble free hours on it so far.
Like anything you buy, look and listen to real good. How are the tires,is it covered in oil, does the hyd fluid look clean.
The bottom line is these are great tractors, but look it over real good.

He there!

Chris from Toronto here.

I have spent countless time online researching compact tractors. Much of my time has been spent on this site reading old posts. I understand from my reading there is some heated discussion on the "Grey market" tractors. A week ago I didnt even know what a grey market tractor was. So please be tender with me:D
I am not 100% sold on Yanmar but they apear to be built like a tank and have good value for the dollar.
I want something small. 20hp give or take. 4wd would be cool. I want a loader and 3ph system. I want to run a fred hain subsoiler. I would prefer turf rubber but not sure if I would have enough traction to pull the subsoiler.
Also, Any advise on where to buy in Ontario Canada or upstate NY or PA.
FYI, I am very mechanically inclined but know nothing about diesel.

thanks.
I have a ym2500 great tractor runs great! However information and local parts are another story. Parts are high priced and limited to purchase over the net, you cannot go to the local parts store and pick up what you need. You dont need a 4 wheel the locking diff works just fine if you know how to use it. I cleaned 2 acres withmine and I cut down a 85% grade with just the locking diff.
