Sleepingdog . . . Henro said the B2910 and TC24 are about the same size, and I think he made an honest mistake about that. The TC24 is narrower than the B2910 (47" versus 55" -I have the 60" bucket so my B2910 is actually more than a foot wider) and the B2910 is probably at least a foot longer than the TC24. The TC24 turns tighter. All that said, both have fairly similar capabilities and probably have similar power to weight ratios, the B2910 obviously will pull slightly larger implements and handle heavier loads a bit better.

At 3 acres, I'd go with a 21 or 24 hp unit. If you go up to 30, you step up in frame size and you'd probably end up buying a push mower or another riding unit to mow around the house and landscaping, etc. NOT THAT THAT IS A BAD THING!!! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

SleepingDog, I feel your pain. I went through the same ordeal. If that TC35 is the old style, he wants to get it off the lot. He probably trys to suggest that one to everybody. And if it is the old style, I think his price is too high /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif. Bottom line, if you aren't comfortable with that dealer, find one you are comfortable with. Just my opinion, but I think the TC35 is more tractor than you need on 3 acres. Let this "Tim Taylor" phase run its course and I think you will realize the TC24 will suit you just fine /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif. And just think of all the attachments you can buy with the money you save /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif.

Bob, I still think I was pretty close when I said my Kubota B2910 (which is probably about the same physical size as a TC24, or just a tad bigger...

Of course, that depends on how big the local tads are I guess! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

For some reason the small HP New Holland tractors always seem larger to me than than the similar HP Kubota tractors that I am more familiar with.

SD,
I'll chime in here too. If you check my profile you'll see I have a pretty big Kubota. MUCH bigger than what you are looking at. I have a big tractor to do BIG tasks like plowing fields and making hay. I will probably end up getting a little tractor too, to do the smaller jobs.

On a lot the size of yours, I would really think twice about the size of the tractor. I think the TC35 would be TOO big for your space. It really isn't any fun trying to maneuver a big tractor in small spaces. Look at what you want to do with your tractor. I don't think there is much on a lot that size that couldn't be handled by the TC24. It might take you a little longer for a few big jobs... BIG DEAL. If you get a tractor that is TOO BIG, you won't be able to do the small jobs AT ALL.

Think about what goodies that 4K will buy you. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

A TC35D is really a very large tractor for 3 acres. I think you made an honest assessment of what you need and should stick with it. If you are still confused, run through the requirements again.

The big tractor would quite a load for a half ton truck and a 7,000 lb trailer. Really too big for my comfort. If you're going to be transporting it, be honest about your current vehicle situation and experience. If it works for you, go for it.

That really is a very effective tractor. I've used the TC40D, which is the same frame size with a little bit bigger motor. It's a monster compared to my Kubota b2910, with all that is good and bad that comes with it. It's way more effective at loader work, but it's too big for a lot of things, and tough to transport.

Well all,
I went ahead and talked to the salesman of the TC35 and said I had to pass. He tried to pull me back saying I was passing up the deal of a life time and that I would regret not getting this tractor. I thanked him once more and politely said I was still looking and considering other options. He knew I was also looking at Kubota, which he also sells and said he could beat any other dealer's price. I said I would consider it /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif, but by now I knew this was the last phone call to him I would make.

As the day went on I knew it was for the best. I was feeling a little lighter, a bit happier and more relaxed about the entire thing. Seeing how I had my son (his daycare was closed) I toted him over to the Kubota dealer to chat. We looked at the B7800 and the B2910 again and knew these were valid options. We sat and talked for awhile. I left feeling that if I bought from him it was going to be a good experience.

The day was still young, my son was still energized (a three year old always is) and the weather couldn't be beat. I had a late afternoon meeting, but there was a window of time for one more stop. Back to my local NH dealer. He had gotten in a TC33D from a vineyard return from one of his other stores, 60 hrs, hydro, no supersteer. I told him about the offer the other dealer made on the TC35D and asked if he could move on the price of the TC33D. We talked and he crunch some numbers and we came to place that was fair. I know the TC24 would do the job, the TC35 is too big...the TC33 and TC29 same frame, looked right. He's putting the new style curved FEL and throughing in the box scaper at cost. Is it still too much tractor? Maybe? But maybe I'll have to move in a few years if my wife continues to buy horses, goats, alpacas, turkeys, chickens, dogs, geese.... /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

I want to thank everyone for the information and support. I feel a lot better tonight. I'll keep you posted. I told my local NH dealer I needed the weekend to think it over. Dreaming of a TC33.

I had the opposite problem. I went to buy a TC33D. I dreamed of it, and when I saw one at the county fair, I announced loudly to me entire family that THIS was the tractor I wanted. Then I went to the dealer, and he told me the TC33D would probably be too much tractor for my work, and the TC18 would fit better. He had new and one used TC33D's on the lot, and had to get me a TC18, so he wasn't pushing it. He had one TC18 for me to look at, but it was sold.

Anyway. long story short, I bought the TC18, and one year and 340 hours later, couldn't be happier. I use it for everything but finish mowing.

Anyone that takes a year and a half to decide what dog he wants and winds up buying a Weimeraner, sure must love his dog. Unfortunately, they chew everything in site as a puppy. When they are full grown, they will never leave your side. If you go somewhere without them, they either destroy the house or get very depressed. I know because I have had them for almost 35 years now. Great choice of dog if you can adjust to their way of thinking, but don't ever underestimate what they can do or get into. I seem to have better luck with my more recent ones, because they have not been nearly as destructive as my original one, Storm.
Oh... to keep this tractor related, I am sure that you will make the right choice of tractor just like you did with the dog. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
