I thought buying a tractor was suppose to be fun

Sleeping Dog, we must be working in some kind of parallel universe. I too had a small problem with a dealer I went to last weekend, he tried to talk me into a bigger tractor only he wanted me to pay top dollar for it as well. Spent a terrible week second guessing all my decisions and finally realized I was right in the first place. Today, I went to a different dealer, farther away. He thought I had chosen the right size, and offered a very attractive price. Amazing how much better I feel about my self and my choice and Kubota. I will be sleeping with a B7800 on my mind.

Junkman,
You do know those gray ghosts! When our oldest was just a pup I would take him everywhere. Not by choice, but because if I left him home I would have to crate him otherwise he would eat the furniture (which he did anyway). If I did crate him, he barked constantly until I came home. I hired two trainers and even a T-Tough specialist to work on the separation anxiety. Nothing worked so he went where I went. Still if I left him in my car (a Nissan wagon) he would tear it apart. I finally had to remove the headline, remove the plastic wheelwell covers, install the steel bar dog barrier and put sheet metal on the back of the second row seat. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif Anyway sorry to ramble about my other great love.

Another turn in my tractor saga. Today my local Kubota dealer was having an open-house-demo-day with free food. Can't pass up free food and looking at tractors. I test drove the B7800 over and over. It's a great tractor, but I left feeling that the NH was more comfortable (for me). I'll be talking to my NH dealer on Monday. I know the TC33 is more tractor then I need (but less then the TC35) and it even my hinder me in some of my work, but I'll play with it, work it and learn from it. Who knows, in three years alot can change. In three years I started my business, got married, had two kids, built a house and I'm still alive.

All of the tractors ar GOOD but will they fit what you need. I have ten acres (farm about 4--or learning to!, mow about 4, brushhog/clean/ buildings on rest). I went to the local NH dealer and he was really pushing me to get the 18...said it would do all I needed. I appreciate him pushing me to a smaller and less expensive tractor but it would have been too small. I ended up with a used JD 4300 (32HP at engine) and I love it. Yes, I would like a tiny bit more for farming applications but it does the work well--would do MUCH better with R1s instead of industrials too. I have used it for mowing and planting in the yard, driveway work, a lot of loader work, etc.

I am VERY happy with the choice... just th right size to do all I need. You have done a lot of research and I think you are in the right ballpark for what size you need...make sure the one you buy will run all the implements you want. That TC## is very nice...if it isn't too big for your yard. Does it have turfs? DO you have wet areas. A bigger tractor can let you do more work but also tears up the ground more. The quality of the tractor is with out question ( and I'm a Deer guy!) just make sure it works for you.

With the TC33 and no super steer you may want a mower for near planting beds/house/tress for trim work...not a bad idea though(? zero turn). I actually use a small Yanmar for pulling mowers and leave the Deere set up for other work. If they make a deal for you, I think you will be very happy...it may be a bit big but that is NOT bad. You always end up doing more with your tractor than you plan...I imagine others would agree with that.

Sorry about rambling...I got up early to spread fertilizer and it started raining...so off to TBN I went. I was just giving you some ideas. Let us know what happens and for God's sake send us photos!!

Good luck, pal
Peter
