Re: I took the plunge - UPDATE

Nothing Cheeses me off more than waiting for a no show no call. Thats one Thing I have never had any trouble fireing someone on the spot for. I'm easy to get along with and believe in second and third outs, But no shows twist my ru barb the wrong way. Dave

Re: I took the plunge - UPDATE

I think you should have immediately called your salesperson and cancelled the delivery and told him you were reconsidering. My salesperson was great until delivery then dropped me like a hot potato. Find someone who really wants your business.

It looks like your post was today - you can still call first thing Tuesday morning.......

Re: I took the plunge - UPDATE II

IT HAS ARRIVED! It showed up today at 5pm. What a machine. I mowed until dark. I even let the wife mow. I drove it to the neighbor's and showed it off. Very cool.

As a recap, the delivery was supposed to take place Monday at 4:30pm but the dealer was a 'no show', not even a phone call. I was not a happy camper. I called up early Tuesday morning to express my displeasure. I had calmed sown alot from the previous evening and started to give the dealer the benefit of the doubt. Maybe something had happened outside of their control. I've always been a very forgiving person. Anyways, I spoke with a manager and he was 'shocked' at my tale and went to find answers. He called back and said basically that someone 'forgot'. Not a good answer but I respect the truth. Don't make up something fancy. Tell it like it is. After many apologies we rescheduled delivery for 'whenever I wanted to have it.' Well tonight at 5pm it arrived. For my troubles I got two JD hats and a Carhart sweatshirt. My bucket hooks were 'gratis' also.

Did I mention that this machine is very cool. I had 10 tons of gravel delivered this morning just so I could use the FEL. I do have some driveway work to do also. What a coincidence.

All is not rosy though... I may have a few issues.
- I didn't get a manual for the 2210. I think there should be one. I did get one for the FEL and mower.
- No bucket level indicator. The sales guy mentioned one prior to sale.
- A small hydraulic leak in a FEL fitting
- And .... the mower height adjustment is not working right. The funny thing is that I specifically checked this at the dealer last week and it worked fine. Today I can't get it past 3". Grrr.

And yes, this is a cool tractor. No pics yet.

I'm sure more tales will come...

Re: I took the plunge - UPDATE II

Sounds like they made it right for you. Good deal. The bucket level indicator is around $30 and worth it to me. I use mine regularly. I find the smaller the loader the more I need it as I cant really see the bucket too well. If they said it was included call em back. You definately want and need a manual, dont let them slide on that one. The mower height seems a common complaint. I dont have one but most seem to indicate dealer set up as the problem but send it back to them and have them get it right as well as fix the leak. A bit of a pain but all in all relatively "normal" stuff to have happen. I dont know why dealers just cant get it right the first time. Dave

Re: I took the plunge - UPDATE II

Congrats! I know how you feel, the first night I got mine home I was pretty busy!
Be sure deck is all the way up when trying to adjust the knob.
I used some wd40 underneath and seemed to help, But, am going to get in this winter.
Like doc said, be sure and get the manual. I also purchased the tech manual for around $40.

Re: I took the plunge - UPDATE II

A tech showed up this morning to fix the FEL leak and look at the mower height knob. Unfortunately I had to work and my wife stayed at home. The tech fixed the leak and then supposedly gave my wife some tale about the mower knob working OK but the sticker was placed in the wrong spot. Yea, right? I don't think my knob is working right. It turns very hard. I can't even turn it while sitting on the tractor. I have to get off and stand on the right side to get the best leverage. How hard should it be to turn? Also, should it turn completely 360 degrees and stop at each side? I can turn my knob totally counterclockwise and it stops at the install position but when turning clockwise I can't get it past 3.5" or 4". And that's forcing it with all my strength. I can't get it to lock in the up position. I'm assuming that when it's locked and I drop the 3pt the mower should not move, right? Let me know if I need to make another phone call and scream....

Thanks,

wickman

Re: I took the plunge - UPDATE II

There were some guys saying there decals were put on wrong. Don't know if that is your case.
My knob will not go all the way around. It stops on install, and wont get past 4 1/2.
I can't remember if it drops any or not.I think it might still drop 1/2" or so. I have found all the way up is still not high enough to do anything besides mow.
When I took the deck off I lubed with wd40. Find where the knob goes through floor, and spray everything up there. Made it a lot easier. It will get easier after you use it a while.
I know where you are coming from, should not have any problems when getting a new tractor. It sounds like your dealer made an attempt to fix. They probably did not send out a top guy to fix a hyd leak and look at a mower adjustment knob.
When you do call, stay calm. It always works in your favor. Being in a service department myself, nobody likes being yelled at because the guy you sent to make a repair could not handle it and told you it was fixed(or he thought it was fixed).
I will take mine in this winter when season is over in case anything else comes up.
I know where to set the adjustment knob for my grass and take of the MMM when doing anything, it only takes a few minutes. It also will get quicker removing and installing.

I have found all the way up is still not high enough to do anything besides mow.

I have heard this is the case with the sub compact line of tractors. You mention it only takes a couple of minutes to remove the mower. While I know this is a little off topic, is it possible to remove the mower on hard packed chipped stone? Or do you really need a cement slab to make this work.

Just curious,

Re: I took the plunge - UPDATE II

I have taken mine off in the stone driveway and in the grass. Makes it a little tougher sometimes, mostly from pulling/pushing the deck from under tractor.

Re: I took the plunge - UPDATE II

Call the dealer. The mmm height adjustment knob should freely turn 360 degrees, require just a little force to turn, and be free to turn clockwise or counter-clockwise. I'll bet the dealer will find that the lift link (from the 3 pt hitch) needs adjustment. I adjusted the link on my 2210 and the knob now functions as designed.

With the height adjustment knob in the lock position, the deck should only drop about 1/2" or so when the 3 pt is lowered.
