Great...... Mine took 3.5 quarts to fill the crankcase and filter and it is about 1/16" below the drill hole..... I ran it for 10 minutes and checked the oil twice.... 3.5 quarts..... Also it seems that the engine is louder with the synthetic oil than the factory fill.... fact or my imagination?????

I switched to Mobil 10-30 at 150 hours and now I have this weird sound of something loose, kinda like a metal to metal sound. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gifChecked for something loose, could not find anything. It was not present when I used dino stuff. Guess back to dino oil next change. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Go figure /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

"Mine took 3.5 quarts to fill the crankcase and filter"

Great!

I was passing by my dealer's place last week, so I stopped in to get everything I needed for my BX23's 50 hour service, or so I thought. Guess I need to stop in for another quart of oil. (He threw in the oil and filter for free when I bought the Super UDT and hydro filter -- complementary first oil change. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif No big deal, but saved me a few bucks.)

Anyway, I bought 12 quarts of Super UDT. Is that gonna be enough for the "2.7 gallons" specified by the Operator's Manual, or is that way off too??? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Thanks,

I use Amsoil and my dealer told me to make sure that I put in 15W-40, no lighter. I've used it since the 50 hour change, and everything is just great, no extra noises. I suggest you try at least the 15W-40 and I'll bet your noises go away.

"My BX2200 w/905 engine took a tad over 3.5 quarts the last 2 oil & filter changes...."

Just to follow up on this earlier discussion:

BX23 with D905-E engine, 49.6 hours, oil and filter change: 3 quarts and 14 ounces.

Mine hasn't been out of the garage since the last oil change. At the rate you are racking up the hours on your BX23, you will be ready for the 100 hour service in a couple of weeks. The only person that I know that puts more hours on a vehicle than you is my wife. She claims to go no where but to work, but has to fill the tank at least every 5 days and the mileage keeps climbing. Must be all that shopping that she also denies doing... those clothes in the close with all the tags on them must be breeding in the darkness.... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

And I put another half hour on it today. With the break-in period completed, I went looking for things to push over. Finally found a big pile of wet (it rained last night), moldy hay that I could barely budge with the FEL at 75% RPM. Cranked the engine up to full speed for the first time -- OHMYGOSH!!! Definite increase in lift capability -- WOW! Just about threw the stuff over the fence.

Since this thread has turned in to a discussion on oil and oil changes: I use Shell Rotella-T 15W - 40 in my diesel pickup. Has anyone have experience or comments on using this in the L3130s? I am planning on buying one as soon as we can finalize a deal.
