The 84 does indeed indicate the width but the 35 is a number for the lower end horsepower rating.
The blade is rated for "up to" 80 hp in a two wheel drive and "up to" 65 in 4w drive.

As far as the width, I was actually more concerned about pushing the tractor sideways than I was covering my tires or being able to pull it.
My six footer pushed my "little" GL3240 sideways like crazy if I got too happy with it.

That sure is a fine rear blade. Being hydraulically adjustable it may not be an issue but I like to turn my blade 180 degrees for some applications. If the blade is too wide you can only do that with it removed from the tractor. Nybirdman makes a good point. You want it to cover your foot print when angled. Bet you knew that.

From the 3pt hitch to the hinge pin is 61 1/8 inches. And 8 footer only needs 48 inches to spin around. To turn it, you unhook the cylinder, whirl it around and re-pin the cylinder. Piece of cake. :thumbsup:

It helps if the blade extends beyond the tires, so that you don't have to drive on the windrow that you are trying to move over. Loaded tires will keep the tractor from sliding sideways.

If you snag something solid with a 35-80 hp rated blade using a 50+ hp tractor, you will tear the swivel post right off of the 3pt frame. BTDT.

I have a 4720 Tractor which is 72" wide and an 8' wide landpride blade that I use to pull snow.....works awesome. I have two hydro cylinders on mine. If I had it to do over again I would by the 9'......sometimes when angled sharp for deep snow I don't cover my tracks. But 95% of the time it is great...

I have the 35 series on my tractor. It is a heavy tough blad....I can't imagine you are going to bend it. I have angled and swung mine on an end angle to pull trenches in hard dirt and it held up fine. I would not want a heavier one for what I do. This one already is heavy enough that you need be real careful when using on concrete for pulling snow.
