That sounds reasonable. I had no idea they cost that much. I know better now. Sorry to get you thinking you got robbed but it sounds like they gave you a decent deal.

IMO, if you thought you were getting a new production 2009 machine and they alert you before it was delivered that it was a 2007 that had been sitting for 2 yrs, then if you need/want that 25 gal sprayer, it should be thrown in for free. It won't cost CC much to do that if it satisfies you. Otherwise, I would want about $500 refunded on the machine you have.

I don't know how much those have gone up since 2007, but I'd bet 3299 isn't discounted much from what the dealer was asking for that same mower 2 yrs ago.

Instead of money ask for two extra years on the warranty.

I think this is wise.

If you believe the whole thing is underhanded, return it for refund and buy something else from some other manufacturer.

If you want the machine and know that it has to come from dealer stock because none have been recently built, then a free extended warranty should be a good offering from them.

I agree that 2 yrs extended warranty is also a very good option--if you want it. The key is not just getting something, but getting something that you want, that satisfies you.

It's 1 thing to buy a machine knowing up front that the 1 you get will be 2 yrs old because it's coming from dealer stock that hasn't sold and that's why you're getting a good deal. It's entirely different, though not really underhanded either, when you think you're getting a good deal on a brand new machine fresh off the truck and it's a 2 yr old NOS machine.

What's the big deal when it was manufactured?

A lot of things you buy are not in continuous year-round production and may only be manufactured once every couple of years. So what? Do you deserve a discount just because it sat in a warehouse for a few months?

The way I see it is that you got a brand new mower at a fair price... sounds to me like you're having second thoughts about the purchase and are looking to wrangle a few bucks out of the issue.

Suck it up!

You got the mower you wanted at a price you agreed to pay... what more could you want?

I can somewhat agree with this line of reasoning, especially given that equipment model years don't tend to work like automotive model years with regard to year to year changes and resale value, but unless it's disclosed up front that it may be a couple of years old (but still new) then it's reasonable to expect the production date to be current within about 12 months.

I'm still curious what the sale price on that i1050 was in 2007--the current price of a ZTT 50 could be making the original CC sale price look like a deal without even discounting it from its original sale price (from 2 yrs ago).

Let us know what you decided to do...

So your saying if you went to buy a new car and ordered a 2009 but they sent you a 2007 you'd be alright with it. Since he said it came from another Cub dealer not a warehouse it's likely been sitting outside for 2 years with ozone attacking all the rubber items and UV rays fading the paint and plastic.

And the hour meter may have been disconnected(very easy to do) all the time they ran it outside and back in. No way it could have only one hour on it UNLESS it sat in one place it's whole life.
Mine was a left-over '08 model and had 7 hours on it from it being moved inside and out for just one year(or the key was left on).

That may be OK with some things but I certainly wouldn't accept a tractor, automobile, RV etc. that had been sitting at a dealer for 2 years without a discount. Automotive tires are supposed to be replaced after 7 years and these tires have been exposed to ozone, sun (probably) for 2 years. Also tractor batteries don't last a long time and this one has 2 years gone already.
