Kubota Grand L 3940 HST-3
I figured we could start a thread for the Kubota execs to read ;) if you were at the table when the new BX or "Max killer" tractor was designed, what would you insist Kuboypta includes to leap frog the competition without breaking the bank?

Personally, I'd love to see the smaller tractors offered with Grand L features like:

1) HST+
2) Position Control
3) NO TURNBUCKLES
4) Tilt wheel
5) FEL removal without having to drop stands

I know for a fact, if I had the option of buying a BX or B sized tractor with these features, I wouldn't mind paying more to get those features in a smaller tractor. I dont know hat the manufacturing costs of placing HST+ in the smaller tractors would be, but you can be sure it would put the other manufacturers in a pickle.

As to number five, that's a personal preference for me. My 3320 loader was a walk in the park to remove, only had to get off the tractor to unhook the hydraulics, and it seemed more stable on slightly of level ground.

What features would YOU like Kubota to put in the next generation of SCUT it CUT tractors?

If you are a Kubota dealer, please feel free to forward the contents of this thread to your factory rep.....

Surprised this hasn't gotten a lot more responses so far. Seems like we had one of these threads when the JD 1026R was coming out about a year ago. I'm thinking position control on at least one BX model for those that just have to have it. A dedicated tach would be a nice upgrade. Folding ROPS on all models for those that need to mow under trees. And a bunch of other stuff I can't think of right now - oh, a folding or quick detach grill guard so taking the engine cowl off wouldn't be such a hassle.

HST+ sounds nice, but also expensive so I wouldn't hang any hopes on that being added, but who knows; it would certainly trump the competition as far as the HST functions go.

Position Control, the white faced gauges of the B, twin hydro pedals, left side brake and or steering brakes, a built in fel joystick like the JD and Bobcat, not stanchion mounted, and nicer rear tail lights with guards like on the GC.

1. Quieter hydrostatic.
2. More hydraulic strength.
3. Better mowing quality.
4. Easier install of the 3pt hitch (or the ability to keep it installed when using the backhoe). No turnbuckles
5. Better lighting. Better forward light when the loader is installed (look at the new Deere with lights by the seat area) and factory rear light (that actually work)
6. Better fan and underbelly protection
7. An actual tach and better gauge console.
8. More BH reach
9. Bigger BH bucket.
10. Better "gray" paint. The paint quality on the non-orange parts is ridiculous.
11. Better seat rotation system
12 Better seat suspension

Remember, everything you add has a cost. If the tractor gets too high, there
is no advantage. Also, there has to be distinct differences between classes to justify the next level of pricing.
The sub category is a large segment of the market but it has been because of price.

I wrote a letter to Kubota last year with some suggestions. A reply was received basically saying they will send the suggestions to their engineering department.

--The noise level in the HST cabbed B3030 tractor is very annoying. Improvements could be made to quiet the transmission. Plus BETTER sound deadening material is absolutely necessary. Seal the cab. This is without a doubt the biggest complaint about the cabbed B3030 tractor!!!

--The ergonomics of the steering wheel in relationship to the seating position needs improvements. Even though the steering wheel tilts (By the way, using the foot pedal is a great feature) it should also telescope in and out. I find I lean forward to use the steering wheel, and to adjust the right lever to increase or decrease the RPM痴. Very awkward!

--The key should be moved to the side so that it minimizes the chance of breakage.

--The location of the speakers are terrible. Move the speakers to each side of the headliner close to the operator痴 head.

--Include an interior light or make one optional.

--Include an 12 Volt outlet or make one optional.

--Make a rotating/strobe warning device optional.

--Make a horn optional.

--The location of the wiper sweep is poor. Upon sitting in the operator痴 seat and looking straight ahead the wiper sweep is not in the view of the operator. You must bend down to look through the sweep area. Increase the length of the wiper arm and limit side to side coverage. Allow the wiper to operate intermittently.

--Allow the front window to swing open (on the bottom) to allow for ventilation.

--Allow the front doors to be locked in an open position (2 or 3 inches) to allow for ventilation.

--Install a glass bowl to observe the HST fluid level.

--Move the HST fluid level dipstick to a better location.

--If possible run vent tubing from the heater to the foot area so heat can be directed to this area.

--Make an armored plate optional for the underside of the tractor.

--Make an interior rear mirror optional.

--The storage compartment behind the rear seat is a joke.

--The location of the drink/cup holder is in a very poor spot.

--Is it possible to move the radio to the left of the heater/ac controls, in the headliner?

--Include a cloth seat for the cabbed B3030.

--Move the rear wheels out a few inches to allow the installation of snow/logging chains without the need for wheel spacers.

--Since there is no clutch pedal on the left side move the brake pedals to that side.

--Move the fuel filler opening from the center of the hood to either side. Most likely the left side as the front end loader valves are not on this side.

--Do away with the treadle pedal and switch over to the set up like Deere tractors have. The problem with the treadle design is it takes a lot more space then the twin pedals and your boot gets caught in the pedal. Ask me how I know?

--Make available either a CVT transmission or the HST+ transmission. The Auto Throttle Advance feature in the larger Kubotas is very nice.

NOTE: Hopefully when the B3000 replaces the B3030 it will address some of these issues.

Right. So you're saying that the Kubota BX shouldn't be better, it should be cheaper? I guess so, if you look through the buying section of any brand many list price as the highest consideration.

Kubota would loose to many returning customers. They would not like the inability to continue the "Kubota shuffle".
