To avoid bending a 3-point drawbar by lifting, use a drawbar hook or two. The drawbar will pivot so the strong side is always facing the load.

good idea to keep this angled the correct way. OK, so for the most part, it seems the majority agreement is to use the 3pt hitch. I am heading out there sunday. So if anyone else has a dynamite solution, let me know.

Ken,
Although you asked how to remove the posts with your tractor, there's a non-tractor way. Use a farm jack and a chain. This one will lift 7000 lbs, much more than your tractor will lift. No issues being so close to the swimming pool.

I actually own this jack (hi-lift jack from my off roading days) and tried it on old fence posts years ago. It did work but was a real issue. Almost not worth the effort (unless I was doing it wrong).

I found it unsteady with the chain constantly slipping. I will be takin this with me for an arsenal if necessary on Sunday.

There you go, dynamite will blow them out of the ground!

Hi-Lift (made in the USA) actually makes a fence/post pulling attachment for their jacks. Might be worth looking into.

I had a broke off wood corner post about 12" in diameter. I dug down 10" around it and put the chain on it but it broke apart. A man I know told me to take a T-post and driver and drive it into the center of the rotted post - about 10" or so and then pull it out with the loader. It really does work. The handy man jack will work too but be careful - you could wind up with a shiner if the handle bounces back!

The hook was a fantastic idea that kept the bar at the right angle.

The wood posts came out with the chain and very easy!!! Thanks for the tips. As for the aluminum, the chain would crush them or slide off. That was until I added a vise (idea from YouTube which had negative comments). Well, that guy was right and proved to work awesome!

Thanks again for all the input. Once again, this site proves useful and no just a time killer.
