Stupidest thing SO FAR.....I wanted to level the surface of my fallow garden with my new Piranha Bar and move the dirt/compost to the compost pile. Was a very uneven surface, with lots of random piles of compost. First few feet looked okay, then suddenly the right wheels sunk into a soft spot, tilted the whole rig to the right, causing the FEL to gouge out a big hole on the right, which the right front wheel promptly fell into.

Might have been a first; tipping a tractor by dropping into a hole you just dug yourself.

Thank God for filled tires (and 4WD to get out). Decided it was Happy Hour.

Don't forget about using your bucket [curling from fully dumped] as a lever to push yourself back out of the hole, or the reverse to power forward out of it

Inthe spring, SWMBO got our tractor royally buried/high-centered in wet mud/clay while excavating ditches [thank you Piranha Bar] for our ongoing drainage project, and called me to come and get it/her out [how little old [really old some days] me was supposed to be getting it out if it were really stuck is beyond me], and instead of doing it myself, I talked her through using the FEL/bucket to pull/push herself out- now hopefully, she'll remember the concept [which I HAVE more than mentioned to her in the past...].

Get a back alarm switch, like they have on bigger machines, use it for a parking brake light saying duh, the parking brake is on!

I found a used goose neck that is for the most part in great shape. 1st day after bush hogging all day I unhooked all the chains and removed the front completely. But didn't go around to the other side of trailer and flip the chain off the other lift arm. Start backing down and hear a strange clinking, about the time I'm going wth is that sound, the tractor stops and I'm half way down the dove trail. This trailer has three folding ramps and I'm thinking the 709 is hanging on the third ramp. So I pull up some and cut the wheels some hoping to miss the object the 709 is hanging on nope, then I decide well I'll let the tractor pull a little harder and get on the ground. Nope still hung up, So I pull all the way back up on the trailer and get off, only to find the chain had hung on the angle iron and twisted two of them..

I talked pretty bad to myself..

I got so tired of driving arround with the parking break set I wired in relay and LED flasher on my dash. That little tiny red warning light now has a obnoxious big brother that I never miss. :drink:

Yup. Did that one. I was helping a friend on a sloped part of his property, and I couldn’t get the tractor to go up a hill which was not very steep at all. Tried again and again, and was thinking about which new tractor I would buy it when I sold this useless powerless beast, when I finally realized I had the parking brake on. My friend kept saying, “do you have the Parking Brake on?“, But of course I would never do that, so I just kept trying and trying. Finally, “Duh!”

Needless to say, I did not have to sell my tractor and buy a bigger one. (Still lust for more power, however.)

I was doing some work with my Deere 2520 tractor near my shed''s door and I had to turn it around for something. Realized as I was backing it that my turning arc would put the rear-mounted tiller real close to the shed wall. I let off the pedal just in time for the tiller's rear flap's corner to puncture the pole barn's wall. Sliced it like a can-opener. Thankfully it was only a few inches long of a tear.

I have tons of experience with stupid stuff on forklifts from my time in college working at a lumber yard. Well, and with delivery trucks. Can't remember any specific notable forklift story, but there were many WTF moments. With the truck, one time as I was dumping the flatbed to slide the units of lumber off one managed to roll off the side of the bed and tumble into the bed of the builder's new pickup truck. Oops. Sorry. And then there was the time I had jumped into the truck in the yard getting ready to leave with a load, took a minute to check my directions, then put it in reverse and backed up. In that few seconds another builder drove into the yard and parked perpendicular right behind the truck. Squished his leg in the door as he was getting out when the truck bed rear edge pushed his door back into the truck. Apparently his leg was stronger than the steel on that F-350's door because his leg was fine. Door not so much. Customers weren't supposed to drive into the yard like that so we were both at fault.

Also remember my dad doing a good one... We were trying to remove this relatively small pine shrub from near the house. Dug and dug around the roots and tried to pull it out with the JD 110. No go. My mom worked at a tractor dealership so my dad went over and borrowed a field tractor (something like a A/C 7020). Hooked up a chain to that shrub, put it in gear, let out the clutch, and promptly popped the biggest wheelie you've seen a tractor do. Fortunately he hit the clutch & brake at about 45* angle and kept it from going over. Lucky. **** shrub finally did get removed but it was a hard-fought battle.

See if that were a FORD, those would be part of its story- like in the commercials about scars they've been running...
