I am batting a newbie-perfect 1000 on crushing at least one finger every time I attach my bush-hog's PTO shaft. Is there some trick to this that I'm missing??? I'm tired of purple fingernails!!

In another thread about PTO shafts. I mentioned that it took a while before I realized that the sheet metal guard over the tractors PTO shaft will flip up to allow easier access to PTO coupling. Several TBNers commented that it took awhile for them to find this out also.

Lube the pto shaft.
Start the coupler onto the shaft.
Push button over.
Hold BEHIND the button (towards bush hog) and slide foward.
I've had a rotary cutter for 4 years and I've never smashed my fingers...there.
Now, those darned old turnbuckles that USED to be on my B7500 caused a few unplesant moments...ah, those telescoping sway bars!!

Ha, I'm not a musician I have too much respect for those folks. I thump 1-5 on the upright bass some, but my main music gig is DJ and MC in the summer months.
But it hurts when you smash a finger no matter what the occupation!
