If You Could Change/Want/Miss Anything On Your New JD?

3520 w/cab. 51 hours. Here goes! Some of the problems I can see are. Looks like Deere could have used more care in running a lot of the different lines. Heater, hyd and electrical. They seem to cross and touch each other more than I would like. In the long run this is going to cause wear and eventual failure. Then replacement by me.(pita) I've already rerouted a few lines so they are not rubbing against anything. My thoughts are you should not have to make changes on a new machine. Run it, service it and enjoy it!

I also do not care for the location of the exhaust. Blows against the ground stirring up dust.( I guess I'll have to change it to the vertical exhaust) Although I don't like the idea of using a hole saw on the hood.

Brakes also seem to be lacking somewhat. Takes alot of foot effort.

Add a small tool box!

I guess after running a JD 870 for over 10 years its going to take some time to adjust to something totally different. I DO TRULEY LOVE THE CAB!

Suspension seats available on the smaller CUT for us people who are getting older and don't want to feel beat up after a day of play.

A backhoe with having a cab and A/C would be nice to on the 3X20 and 4X20 tractors.

You can get the X series seat (suspension with armrests) for your sub-CUT, there are threads here on folks who have done it and it looks really nice. Down side is that the seat is ~$500 from JD.

There is a toolbox kit for the 3020's I like mine.

JD should change the loader valve to one that will "simultaneuosly blend" multiple functions (ie. lift, dump, curl, etc) on all 3X20, & 4X20 machines. Currently just the cab models have this luxury, and of course the competition!

I have a JD 2305 and while I am generally thrilled with the machine I have, here are some of the relatively minor changes I would make:

1) A shield (possibly add-on) to protect the transmission cooling fan (very common complaint) and the transmission oil filter.

2) A shorter top link for the 3 pt. hitch. This alone would be a VERY SIMPLE modification that would drastically reduce issues with ground clearance. I have had only minor issues that I could could easily overcome, but getting implements higher off the ground during transport is always a good idea. further, a shorter top link would be an easy fix for existing machines.

3) More bucket options, including toothbars, FEL mounted snowplows (a simple option for the 200cx loader) and most importantly hooks for lifting heavy objects with chains or ropes.

4) ROPS mounted headlights and rear worklights.

5) A tool box.

As I said before, I absolutely love the machine I have--it really is a workhorse But as with any machine, it can be improved.

Is there someone at JD we could send questions and ideas to? I have a few concerns or ideas about my new 2520 that I would like to talk about. I bought the second one from my dealer and they just got their 3rd one in. They know about as much as I do, and can't answer my questions. JC

Jomo45, my 3320 cab model won't blend functions either. Unless I got a bad one I don't think any do and I agree. They should and the power beyond issue not avaliable on the cab models but are on the non cab.

Wow, what a good question! I am absolutely and completely mystified by why JD doesn't give us a decent built-in tool box!!! Fellows, come on!!! What IS the deal? Over and Over, you see photos owner modifications, add-ons, rigging, and all kinds of contraptions that we use to hold tools. Is somebody at the company reading this? Please get smart and give us a really good, lockable, solid toolbox! That silly little plastic kleenex box won't hold much more than sunglasses, gloves, and stick of gum.
Surely one of you Green Geniuses can manage to engineer a toolbox that will actually hold TOOLS.

On my 4720 I would like to add a Rabbit /Turtle shifter to the E Hydro. It allows a 20% up or down shift for more power or speed without the need to stop and change ranges.

I would like a built in toolbox. Not the stupid little thingy in the fender where I put my gloves. I need a place for a chain, shovel, pins etc.

You are so right about that.

I told my dealer that I needed a "bustle" like a civil war cannon had. My TLB has a load carrying capacity measured in tons, and they give me six cubic inches to store tools in.
