Well this was waay back, high school and after when we were kids, knew everything and also bulletproof. 👍
Reality for me set in about the time I turned 55. I suddenly realized I was vulnerable.....

I've watched several of his videos each night since this was posted and find them entertaining. He certainly isn't putting them up to stress safety though. I don't know much about stretch ropes, I've always preferred a good chain but never believed in "getting a run" because something always seems to break. (removed) mentioned a trick with a tire a while back which I had though that I was the only one who remembered... two chains with a tire in the middle to absorb the shock.
The video about dragging a car 10 miles was funny and scary at the same time... he's luck that nobody got hurt. Would it have taken that much effort to run a ratchet strap though the top of the doors to hold them shut, in case one of the occupants started to fall out?
A couple of videos show him and/or somebody else crawling underneath a vehicle which is only supported by a simple jack; once it was that provided with the car, which was stuck in the sand at the time. I know of too many people who have been killed when a vehicle fell upon them… Then again this wouldn't be the first time somebody accused me of being the "Safety Police"; yet I will continue enjoying his videos.

Been using them since the 80s. The first thing to do is inspect them. If you see any cuts or strands unraveling toss them. Best place to hook them is the tow hook on the front of a truck. For the 2" wide ones or the style where the loops on the end are folded over and half the width of the strap you can slide them inside a 2" receiver hitch.

In fact what we often would do is put the strap in the hitch before even going into the mud. A strap can come off a ball pretty easily while the hitch pin has a clip on it keeping the strap from falling out. Once stuck you just had to climb out of the truck and into your bed. Toss the strap to dry ground and a friend would pull you out.

I have seen people do stupid things. Usually it was they would cut the strap because they wrapped it around metal that would cut it and then they would tie a knot holding the two pieces together. Weak chains were another thing to watch out for. Seen lots of dented tailgates when those chains let loose.

Never attach two synthetic loops together. Under severe strain, one will cut the other. That's why mountain climbers always have a carabiner between ropes. I think some good steel between you and the tow rope/chain is the only safe solution.

If you do have to connect them, use the method I displayed in my pic. We've tested that method many times. No metal involved.

I've saw a chain break connected to a rope and throw a piece of chain and a clevis thru the rear gate of a Jeep Cherokee and into the gas tank.

I've saw a clevis attached to a rope that had pin failure hit the front bumper of a truck, push it back 3", bounce over the top of the bumper, go thru the grill and embed itself in the radiator.

As I mentioned earlier I saw a piece of chain and a clevis attached to a rope go thru the back window, thru the front window, land in front of the pickup 20 feet. If there would have been a passenger in the pickup it would have certainly killed them.
