If you knew then what you know now...

I wish I had known how to enjoy life when I was Young.

I wish I had known that my opinion of what I could accomplish meant much more than other peoples opinion of what I could accomplish.

I wish that I had waited until I was 27 to get married (I got married when I was 20). I still would have had enough hair to attract a good looking woman, I would have had more assets and I would have been a better father.

All things considered though I can't complain. Things are much better for me now than I could have imagined when I was young.

Not everyone needs a degree. Spent 14 years going to school part time to get my degree. Wasted time. Would have been much happier spending those afternoons fishing.

I posted early in this thread, then didn't come back to it until now. It amazes me how many "regrets" some of us have. My wife has an interesting way of looking at things you would have liked to have done differently.

"If you lived your life any different than you did, you wouldn't be the same person you are now".

Those "lifes experiences" make us who we are. We are a compilation of mistakes, triumphs, defeats, victories, hurts, misfortunes, wonderful times, and learning experiences. Overall, I'm happy with the way my life has gone so far. I have a great wife, 3 wonderful kids, 5 grandkids, a job I love, and I got to spend most of my life doing what I wanted, which was farming. If my choices were to change everything I didn't like in my life at the expense of living a totally different lifestyle, I'll stick with what I have, thank you very much.....

I learned from my mistakes and used that knowlege while raising my family. My kids have made better choices for themselves. I couldn't be prouder of them, so no regrets here.

When my voice teacher got me a chance to try out for the New York Metropolitan Opera I should have done it. I said I wanted to finish college first, but by the time I graduated, she had passed away.

Maybe not so much as a regret, but rather a path not taken.

I often wonder what would have happened "if"... i had made , or not, a different choice in life.

You know, get the green tractor instead of the orange. HAHAH! :) That would mean a gator in the shed, instead of an RTV. BAWAHAHA.

Enjoy every day!

The one thing that comes to mind is the older I get the wiser my parents and grandparents actually are/were. Could have learned a lot more and saved some grief if we all would have listened a little better.

I would have taken Spanish instead of French in 7th, 8th, 9th grades.
At the time in central Ohio, neither was very useful. I sure wish
I knew Spanish now.

When building my house, I should have bought an industrial
tractor (Case 580?) and done my own excavation and grading. I should
have bought my first CUT sooner. If I had only known how useful it
would be.....

That reminds me of the famousMark Twain line (That I can't entirely remember...getting old has it's liabilities)

Something to the effect of; "I left home at age 18. I was amazed at how smart my father got by the time I was 25", or something like that.

Every parent deserves the right to live long enough to hear their grown children tell them how they should have listened when they were younger.
