The #1 rule is-Don't put GAS in a diesel !!!

Oh Boy! The first rule of any diesel engine is to NEVER run out of fuel. Always start with the tank full and monitor your use and you will not have this problem.

Yup, his mom told me the same thing. :D

After watching a guy with a skidsteer run out of fuel, and having to call a mechanic to fix it, I became religious about keeping the fuelk tank full. It gets down to 1/2, I fill it up.

I have spent hours trying to re-start heavy equipment because the operator ran it out of fuel...don't run it out of fuel! Truthfully many modern tractors it isn't a big deal but at times it can try men's souls.

I was dreading having to bleed my B7800 after a stick sprung up and took out the fuel filter/sediment bowl, causing the engine to stumble and quit for lack of fuel. So, I read the manual  and it said to just crank the engine. I was surprised how quickly it started.....a whole other world from bleeding the fuel system on the old engines (been there, done that).

Actually the Kubota L3200 and that series are pretty simple to bleed, just a knob up above the injection pump, Open the knob, crank, and when it starts let it run 30 seconds, and close the knob.... but I make it a point to never run out of fuel as others have pointed out.. Just say NO. The only time I had to bleed and pump and mess around was with an old Long 2360, when I had to change out a lift pump.. Wasn't too bad. But I understand some things can be a pain. Other than the Long, I have never run a modern tractor out of fuel. When the gauge gets low head for the house and the diesel can.

I have never run out of fuel either, but, changing the fuel filter on my L3400 has required opening the bleeder screw.

I agree never let your tank get too low, when mine gets to 1/2 a tank i put fuel in it. This also helps the old guys like me because my can im lifting is a lot lighter??

There have been threads and posts in the past by TBN members regarding the accuracy of fuel guages on Kubota tractors. Members have stated that the fuel guages are sometimes, unreliable. Just a thought for the future.

Its not that hard to just take the fuel cap off and look down into the tank. After you get some time on your machine you should be able to judge how much fuel you are using under different operating conditions. You can then refuel based on your experience.
