Ignorant electrical problem

My father has a L4630. He is having a problem with it shutting off. We changed out the fuel cut off solenoid and that seemed to fix it for a bit, but now the problem is coming back. Anyone have issues like this?

Tractor newbie so just a guess here. Try disconnection the seat "shut-off" safety switch just to see if that is the issue. I've seen many motorcycles whereas the kickstand safety switch malfunctioned causing the bike to shut down.

Tried that. The tractor could be idling for minutes and all of the sudden start clicking and shut off..

The same clicking the fuel pump makes before starting?

Yeah. The solenoid clicks

I'm guessing that the clicking is the power going to the solenoid. I think you'll need to get a wiring diagram of the circuit and find where the power comes from and what it goes through. With a multimeter or test light you can check to see where the power is getting cut off. You may also want to check all the connectors, maybe a stick hit one and it's not fully connected.

Did some searching; best I can find of those with similar issues is that it may be the Start Relay Switch rather than the Stop Solenoid.

By shutting off, do you mean the motor is quitting, or is it losing all electrical power?

If it's wired similar to my M4900 I would suspect a faulty engine oil sending unit. I installed an electric fuel pump on my M4900 and the fuel pump runs after engine is shut off until oil pressure drops,then it stops. I wired the elect. fuel pump to wire that supplies inj pump. I had noticed that before elect fuel pump installation that when stopping engine I could here the fuel solenoid on Inj pump click while I was exiting tractor.

Were you ever able to get this issue resolved? What was found to be the problem. I've still got a similar issue going on with mine (L3830 HST) and have replaced the Engine Stop Selinoid and the Ignition switch but still shutting down.

Has your father ever replaced the fuel filter? Fuel blockages can cause exactly the same symptoms... engine cuts out unexpectedly.

After that, some safety switch failure or related wiring issue is probably the next most likely culprit.

It ended up being a glow plug timer and some other solenoid.
