Hello! An answer to your question:
I am a younger mechanic trying to understand older tractors
i have been working on tractors now almost 5-6 years, but this one isn't very familiar in my head, since there arent many around
i have an ih hydro 86 that i am working on for a guy
i recently installed a new charge pump in the tractor (the one that is piggy back and is accessable from the side of the tractor
I also split the tractor and installed a new pump at the front of the transmission i replaced this pump because it gernaded i tested the pressure of this pump at high idle and its about 450 psi
after reassembly and getting the oil levels to a proper level with new filters, i test drove the tractor in high and low ranges, both foward and reverse everything worked...so i thought
i watched the servo pump pressure at neutral, about 200 psi
and about 150 psi while moving, but if the hydraulic lever is stroked the pressure drops to only about 50 psi and the tractor slows down and eventually stops, and once the lever is released the tractor lurches
it will do this in both foward and reverse...i also tested the drive pressures, it is at about 4500 psi at high idle while holding the brakes and starting to move the lever foward while the tractor crawls along
any ideas
