To anyone that reads this.... hope you have a month off to take it all in.

That man sure does have some talent. If I was a neighborhood kid I'd be at his garage every day... I'd be a pita but he'd have to use to it..

LOL , I have always loved to putter !!! Never wanted my shop work to be a business. I always called it my hobby. That helped it stay fun all these years. Collectors have most of my projects I have built over the years. My most enjoyment is wondering if I could build so many machines as models and have them look kinda like the real machines. They are far from perfect but one of a kind models you don't get a second chance to fine tune them. ha, ha. I tried building several of the same model many years ago and that was boring. Todays photos show me sanding the dump box and getting primer on the last parts. I still have to go back and fine tune a few spots. Next I will go back to the farm truck with double trailers that is over 8 feet long. aaa.JPGaaaa.JPGaaaaa.JPG

I made more progress on the Payhauler last week. Far from exact looking like the real truck but close enough to make me pleased with the project. Almost ready to mount the dump box but this way you can see some of the frame details before the box covers much of it up.payhauler5.JPGpayhauler6.JPGpayhauler7.JPG

I'm curious about the various decals? Do you have a computer system to make them? Those details amaze me. :)

Love seeing your pictures. It's amazing all the detail that you create!!!

You may have said already, but do you base the scale of your projects on the size of the tires? They seem like the only thing that you would have to buy and that would limit you to the size of the finished project.

Decals I get from several sources. Also tried making them , very tricky. Some decals the local sign shop makes , surprising they can make them 1/4 inch tall. And yes tires are everything when it comes to building models. I was always looking at Garage sales , hobby shops to toy shows . I still have over 200 different sizes and styles of tires that I bought over the years. I also still have over 75 steel spoke style wheels from building old fashioned horse drawn models. The tires definately determine the scale of the model. To look correct to the eye everything has to be very close in scale. Unless it is a machine with oversized tires and a lift kit to get that cool look. Thanks again for being very positive with your responses. Much appreciated.
