here is the story. my uncle died in 1985, he had teh 340ih and my aunt said its deisel. after he died my cousin continued to work the 40acres they had with this tractor until the clutch went. he was replacing the clutch sometime around 1987-88 and he was trying to get the engine drawed tight and was using the engine bolts and cracked the blosk because somthing was not aligned. this tractor is sitting in the same spot in the barn all blocked up as if when this happened that was the end of farming there. my aunt is the only 1 still around and said i could have the ih340 if i fixed it. all parts are there, just a bonehead cousin tried doing a repair he couldnt handle. she has all the attatchments i would need, disc, harrow, planter. i hunt on the property and have food plots for the deer, a couple 1 acre plots. i do this all by hand with a tiller. so my questions are
1. would it be worth finding a block or another motor for this tractor?
2. after all these years of sitting, would it be better for me to just find a running tractor and not worry about the ih.?
3. are there any good resources for ih tractors?
4. are there any other engines that would bolt up?
