iHitch bushing requirement - why?

Why does the iHitch require bushings on everything? Why not just leave all the bushings off or modify the iHitch to have smaller diameter hooks so that bushings aren't needed? I can't figure out why JD designed it to require bushings. Any ideas? Has anyone modifed theirs?

Putting bushings on everything is a very big hassle. Especially if you want to use them on a CAT 1 and a CAT 2 tractor.

I'll tell you why the bushing setup is slick. They hook up nicer - (can't knock the pins out). When doing hard type work (box blading, etc) the imatch doesn't come undone.

If I had only cat 1, I might still have my i match one. Also, I have a lot of stuff that is not i-match compatible.

Speaking of that:

I have a john deere imatch and a couple sets of bushings I need to sell. If anybody is interested. Not sure what it is worth.

Make me an offer I can't refuse.

It is located in the Dallas, Texas area.
