I wonder how the new Ram 1500 diesel will compare with the Eco Boost...

Bob

The Ecoboost woudl tear it up.

Kind of like their "solution" for not overloading the truck was to decrease tongue weight less than 10%?

I watched about 3 minutes of the video and realized these were a group of idiots then stopped watching. Reminded me of a group of high school kids that had borrowed their dad's trucks for the night and got into a pissing match. Maybe I judged too soon but I didn't see any credible info coming so I turned it off.

I skimmed through part 2 of the Ram 3500 running the Ike Gauntlet and the were pulling a gooseneck with 25% tongue weight.

Hands down nothing in this segment can compete with the Eco Boost. That's the beauty of this package in the F150. It can do everything well, not at just some weights or altitudes and all the time give you a comfortable ride, great power, and good mpg.

Chris

I have all of that with my GMC....I don't, and won't, tow at 12000 feet...If I did, daily, I'd have bought a TD....My'13 GMC is the best truck I've owned and I loved my previous trouble free GM's....If I have an open stretch someday, I'll take on a EB and see what happens...If I lose I really won't care...I'll still keep my Denali.

You don't get the MPG's a Ecoboost does but a Ecoboost doesn't sound as good as 6.2:D

Although the lack of sound can be a good thing too. I enjoy the turbo whistle with the windows down but don't miss the rattling soda can when my V8 down shifted to crest a hill towing the camper.

My testosterone level may have dropped going to a V6 but I don't need any more hair on my back. Wait...will testosterone regrow hair on my head? Hmmm!

Mainly just your ear and nose hair will grow.

So driving a V8 powered truck makes your ear and nose hair grow:eek:

I'm only down 2-3mpg....EPA rated..I can get 15-16 combined and close to 20 on the highway driving like an adult...Don't get me wrong, I have nothing at all against the EB, I just don't see it as the holy grail as some do.

Now if the EB could pull 24 combined, that might change my mind..A couple of MPG's doesn't grab my attention much..

MPG ratings have too much driver behavior variance to take too seriously.

You are doing well. The epa rates them 4 mpg different all around, 14 and 18. That is about 25-30 percent whereas your talking 12-15 percent.

I just drove a couple blocks out of my way to save $0.04/gallon which was only about a 1% savings. I am getting about the same mileage as you driving normally. If i really watch my computer and watch shift points, I can squeeze another couple MPG out of it. It is amazing how much a couple quick starts or passing gear cycles hurts your overall mileage. Baby it for 15 minutes and loose all your savings in one quick start.

Yeah, I'm pretty happy with my mileage when I drive it civilly given what it is..If I run it hard, the mileage drops fast and I have a tendency to do that once in a while. The temptation is too great sometimes:D Why have it if you can't enjoy it once in a while. I'm sure you EB guys experience the same thing.

I can get 18-19MPG with a 5.0 F-150. If I got on the interstate and ran 65 I could get over 20 MPG. When I got my trailer which is 2500-2600lbs I got 16MPG on the way home.

Sitting at stoplights and drive thru's hurt the MPG's too. I am not sure that taking off fast hurts things that badly, it is probably better than taking off really slow.
