Re: I\'ll go first. . . . . .

Remember to raise or remove the parking stand on your tiller before using it. Don't swear when you hear a loud klunk and see a piece of bent twisted metal that used to be attached to the front of the tiller now exiting the back...

Always keep a spare cement block (now the new parking stand) handy.

Remember to fix and paint (disguise) the area on the tiller where the parking stand and holder used to be attached to avoid any curious questions.

Hope your friends won't remember your tiller came with a stand but have a plausible excuse of why it wasn't your fault ready, because they will remember, they will ask and they won't let you forget.

Don't ask how I know this......Dave....

Ensure all removable pins & safety pins/bolts are in place...

Check for missing/loose/broken bolts... grease zerks... etc...

Grease when you're suppose to... keeps 'em open...

Buy your fuel from a truck stop, NOT from the corner C-store. Don't ask me how I know this...

Re: I\'ll go first. . . . . .

Don't assume that when your wife is backing the tractor up for you to attach something to the 3pt that she will understand "that's good" as "stop and wait" and not "good she is done so she can hop right off and go in the house"

Re: I\'ll go first. . . . . .

keep about a quart of matching house paint handy so you can quickly touch up those telltale orange scuff marks that seem to appear around the house and garage, especially near the entrance...before wifey notices. ...also a hammer, some nails, and extra trim and siding are helpful.

Re: I\'ll go first. . . . . .

Never under any circumstance replace the shear bolts in the snowblower with regualr 1/4 bolts unless you want to tear the auger right out of the blower.
When building 3 point attachments make sure you have everything adjusted to clear the rear of the tractor when fully lifted. Tail lights are not cheap nor that easy to replace /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Re: I\'ll go first. . . . . .

Instead of yelling at the Boss (wife) when she's maneuvering the Bota, we use hand signals. Not wildly waving, but simply fist in the air with thumb pointing the direction. It also works for UP/DOWN on the FEL.

Closed fist means stop the maneauver.

Wide open fingers means panic stop and back up!

Done right, it shows you are a well oiled team. Done improperly (including the yelling), it shows you and all your neighbors you aren't. I learned this the hard way from my sailboat experiences. Unfortunately, in a sailboat, the yelling travels a LONG distance, since you aren't talking over a motor.....

Hope this helps.

Re: I\'ll go first. . . . . .

don't forget to open the garage door before warming up the tractor...especially after you've had a few too many cocktails. Don't ask me how I know this....only kidding!!

Re: I\'ll go first. . . . . .

And I forgot this one...

Don't ever drive your tractor at a high rate of speed with one end of a heavy duty bungee cord attached firmly to the tractor and the other end dangling loose. It will catch...guaranteed to be on something either very heavy or else immoveable. Simply amazing how far those things can stretch before something disastrous happens at either one or both ends.

Again, don't ask me how I know this.... Dave

Re: I\'ll go first. . . . . .

When you have a shovel attached to the ROPS with a bungee with its blace resting on the platform of the BH, you should remove the shovel when you disconnect the BH from the tractor. Driving off gets a little exciting if you don't.

Re: I\'ll go first. . . . . .

Your wife is going to become very crampy about your tractor when she hears about it, only someday to admit that "this thing is pretty handy". ............

Folks this really did happen at my place. AFTER the pond was in and the flower beds done, and the other "projects" were completed, she actually said the tractor was worth what we paid for it.

I made the mistake of taking a good thing to far, mentioned what a 2230 with BH could do better than the FEL only........bad idea. Take the compliment on your toy and be happy!

Re: I\'ll go first. . . . . .

Always remember to get your tools out of the handy dandy tool box (FEL) since the next day it is going to be an FEL and the tools will be mixed-in with a pile of whatever!!
