Anyone feel it? Apparently I was driving at the time but several people at work (South Bend, Indiana) felt it and my sister in central Illinois had things knocked off her tables at home.

Yep, had the bed rock-in and roll-in. I'm 70 mi south of Chicago.

They reported on the Atlanta radio station this AM that it was felt by some in the northern Atlanta suburbs.

I'm in south central Indiana. My dog felt it before I did and had me up. It was as strong as any quake I can remember in my sixty years.

We live about 80 miles south of Olney in Hardin County IL. The place was shaking a lot. At first I thought it was a tornado but then realized it was an earthquake. I heard that it lasted for about 6 seconds but it felt a lot longer than that. Haven't found any damage, except the satellite tv cable became loose and the picture was fuzzy until I fixed it, that was scary:D

I live near RobS near South Bend, In. Up at the top of Indiana. It woke me up. As I told RobS in a PM, our waterbed felt like it had bumble bees in it! :D I thought maybe I dropped my cell phone set on vibrate into the bed, but it was charging in another room. Our south walls creaked pretty loudly, too, like it does in heavy wind. My wife came in to wake me up and I told her it may have been an earthquake. She laughed at me. We then turned on the news and found out it was. Pretty cool! :)

Just to put things in perspective....
Here's a comparison of the 1994 Northridge, CA quake VS the 1895 Charleston, MO quake. Yellow indicates where shaking was felt, red indicates structural damage. Now go hide under your blankets!:D

Woke me up at 5:42 EST. I woke up thinking "somebody's walking on the roof!" Sleepy brain said: "You have a two story house, who'd be walking on the roof?", and went back to sleep.

It woke my wife and I up, I am about 100 SW of the epicenter. Wife and I woke up, said "earthquake" and went back to sleep, she was asleep in a minute or two and me in about an hour.

I had just walked through the door into our office. Half asleep, the only one in the building, and looking for a reason to go back home anyway, I just about turned around and headed home.

We have a railroad yard not far from the office. I thought "Oh well, ANOTHER rail car has exploded".

102nd anniversary of the great San Fransisco Earthquake today......Hmmmmm

A group of people I was with in a meeting felt another one at 11:15 this morning here in South Bend, IN. Just a couple bumps on the floor.:)

I felt the second one also, it lasted about 20 seconds. There was just minor shaking compared to the earlier one but it sure did last a long time.

I was laying awake in bed this am (waiting for the mrs to finish her shower) when it hit here. Slow rumbling followed by the whole house shaking for 10-20 seconds. Really disorienting experience for my first ever earthquake....initially I was guessing tornado coming through.

On the lighter side, my wife came shooting out of the bathroom yelling "Earthquake" and for everyone to get outside. She ran down the hall waking our two boys (15&18) only to realize she was totally naked. Next she comes screaming back to get a robe on.........wow - whatta way to jump start your day! Shaken AND Stirred - eh Mr Bond!

Out here about 60mi east of Jefferson City, MO we slept right through the one overnight. But I felt the aftershock that rolled through at 10:15am. It rattled some drawers in a file cabinet & felt exactly like a train passing by. Interesting stuff...

I was in my car headed to the airport when it hit... I thought it was a gust of wind or something like that... the car started drifting to the left and just felt "wierd". Didn't think much of it after that. The a few minutes later the reports started coming in over the radio... I'm sure that's what it was.

I'm really disappointed though... I would have really liked to have felt it for real... and now that I'm sitting in Florida, I missed the aftershock as well...:(

I'm 38 years old and have never felt any of the little tremors and quakes that we have had around the area (I'm not too far from the New Madrid fault)... and now that we got a good one, I was in my car. Then the aftershock comes, and I'm stuck in Florida. Bummer...

Felt it - was half to two thirds asleep, but not 100% due to our newborn. House shook for 3-5 seconds. I thought that was odd, but I wasn't really awake. Wondered about maybe a truck nearby (we are 900ft from road) but didn't get up to investigate. Our house sometimes has a low vibration when the winds are gusting right and that's what I settled for, even though the winds were weak and not the right direction for that. Didn't think earthquake until I read about it this morning.

I'm probably 100 miles NE of RobS, maybe a bit more - well into Michigan.

Brian, I know how you feel. When we lived in Northern IL, there was a tornado that passed within a 1/2 a mile of our house at about 1AM. We just got back from a wedding reception about a half an hour before it hit and my wife couldn't wake me up(I had a few drinks apparently). Her and the kids listened to it and said that it did sound like a freight train. I'm still mad at myself for having too much to drink that night and missing it.

The second earthquake/tremor was a 4.5. I even felt it at work and I work in apower plant, at first I though it was something running down below us till my wife called and asked if I felt that (she works about 3 miles away from where I do) in Carbondale.
