I'm going Bobcat..

I then called a friend who is a local Bobcat construction dealer. They never sold the tractors though. He told me the only dealerships that still serviced them were in St Louis and West Plains. Both are too far for me to be taking a tractor. I asked my friend if he would make some calls and find out what cost was on the CT225 when it was new. He called back and said dealer cost back in 2012 was $11K.
Did he include the loader in that price.
I seriously doubt it.

Olympus,

Congratulations on your new LS tractor. I think you got the tractor you were destined to get.

The price of an LS J2023 has nothing to do with the VALUE of a Bobcat CT225 -- they are in two completely different categories.

Once again, everyone should be happy.

I've never made any inference that the two models were comparable.

But yes, I'm glad everyone is happy as well.

Of course he did. I made sure it was an apples to apples comparison.

Just curious, what do YOU think the guy should have been willing to sell the Bobcat tractor to you for? :confused3:

That's neither here nor there. I made an offer that factored in at least $1000 profit for the guy and I had the cash sitting in a bank bag in the truck. It would be hard for me to turn down a deal on the spot that netted me $1000. But the guy is obviously selling them for more so that's alright. Based on the appearance of his business, it looked like he'd be more interested in making a profit that day. It's a local small used car lot that had a half dozen used cars, some small campers, and obviously a few tractors.

At $11k, the tractor made sense for my situation. At $14k, the cons outweighed pros for me, so I passed.

I know within $800 of what the guy paid for them. Found out from a good friend who is a sales rep for my local Bobcat dealership. He did some research and made some calls for me. Maybe you missed where I explained that already. So at the very least, the guy paid $9900 to $10k for them each.

Keep your bridge...

Never occurred to me that the sellers profit should be part of the decision.
Same thing when I purchased the farm. It was the right piece of property for the right price. If I had a problem with how much money the former owner was making, I'd have had to compromise on price or quality.
Guess we are all wired a bit differently. :drink:
Enjoy your tractor.

Some people do not understand the concept of what the item is worth, they want things given to them.

It seems to be spreading through our once great nation.

Got it to the farm yesterday. Had about two hours before other commitments pulled me off of it.
Started off with stump removal. Didn't get it done, the stump was a lot more sturdy than I anticipated.

It does fit in the barn though. Ha

Now look what you have done. You got it dirty!:) Remember you cannot really do much with a tractor without rear ballast, except mowing. And digging out stumps with a FEL is one of the hardest, time consuming things to do. I have dug out plenty, but it is an "all day sucker"
