I'm in a pretty bad fix update.

Went to the surgeon today, said the tear in my meniscus would never heal on it's own without surgery, and he'll deal with the torn acl while he's in there. So that's how I gonna spend my Halloween. On the upside, I will probably be off to spend Christmas with my beloved bride and wonderful kids.
That's one good thing to come out of this.

I feel your pain. I'm in my 9th week of post-achilles surgery healing, and the roughest part was being off my feet trying to get around on crutches and hobbling everywhere. I've only been walking, if you can call it that, for 1 week. On the upside, you do get a lot of quality family face time. (I tried not to be too big a PATA for her.) The wife was a great support during this time.

I'm sure you'll find afterwards that it was all worth it. Might be hard to see that right now. The other option being possibly being permanently crippled later on down the road...and that ain't much of an option.

On an up-note, the torn meniscus surgery, which I also had, brought immediate relief from the pain. Before surgery I really enjoyed running and had completed 13 marathons many triathlons and "K" runs. That was seven years ago and even though the Dr. said running would be out (and that was true the first year after surgery) I can still now do a decent (>9min. mile) 5k and I run a few miles every day.

Take your time recovering and be diligent with the physical therapy. Good luck!
