Re: I\'m sick of snow!!!! Best way to get rid of it?

Brian, as we sit around the camp fire here in central Texas, where the fire is for light not heat, after a few beers we sing this silly song.

I want to tell you bout a man named Brian
He lived up north where he kept the snow a flyin.
But then one day while he was pushin the silly stuff,
He threw up his hands and said that’s quite enough.

All his Texas tractor buddies say you got to move away from there

So the first thing you know ol’ Brain takes the Lexus
Gathers up his family and moves to Central Texas.

Swimming pools tractors swimming pools tractors…

I haven't a clue.

Re: I\'m sick of snow!!!! Best way to get rid of it?

I've got a 72" INVERSE Smith blower for my TC33D. It is a great tool but is very specialized in its intended use. It really makes quick work or roads, parking lots or driveways where you have to cover a lot of ground and can drive forward. Really beats turning your head around to see where you are going. It cleans up very well and does not leave anything behind. I took off the steel cutting edges and used polyurethane instead. This eliminates any scratch marks on paved drives. I'll post some pics when I find them. The only drawback that I am noticing as we get more snow is that it will not handle really deep snow. This is because you must first drive the tractor thru the snow. Dealing with big piles is difficult as well as 4' drifts. I just blow more often (every 4"-12") and usually never have to face the deep stuff. The most I can blow is about 2' before I start to get stuck. Almost every other snow removal company in my area uses inverse blowers because they are fast. Pronovost is popular because the dealer is just down the street. So is Normandin.

Dylan do you think that the Smith Inverse blower is better than say a conventional blower mounted out front of the tractor taking care of the snow before you would have to actually drive through the deep snow?

I use a 3-point mounted Woods blower myself but as you said I'm backing to blow snow with mine. But then again it will handle deeper snow because my tires don't touch the deep stuff first.

In my opinion every blower seems to have a trade-off of some sort.

You are correct in saying every blower seems to have a trade-off of some sort. Inverse is very specialized. The other contractors around me also use inverse because we specialize in residential snow blowing. We back down the drive, drop the blower at the garage door and then drive away. The driveway is done in seconds and you can clean within 2" of the garage door and not leave a mound of snow. Most of the guys around here do hundreds of drives every storm with this kind of setup.
If you had a 3ph blower or a front mount, driving up to the garage door would leave a mound of snow to clear.

We usually don't do large amounts of snow because we clean often so our customers can always get out.

I've considered a front mount but like using my bucket for plowing and stacking.

Dylan I too considered a front mount blower but I didn't want to loose the use of my FEL. I use it more than I ever would have imagined. Your inverse blower really sounds interesting to me thanks for the info and if you get that opportunity please post a picture or two of it. Maybe one in action if you could.

Re: I\'m sick of snow!!!! Best way to get rid of it?

Do any of you have pics or links of the Smith or Normandin inverse plows? Prices and HP requirements would be a big help. Sounds like either might be a pretty big investment, but I could look for a bit of contract work to help pay for it.

I was going to take some pics this weekend to post, but we had a string of warm, rainy days last week that settled and melted a bunch of snow, only about a foot or so left on the level now. Looks like I might make it through this winter, need to do something better for next year.
