Re: I\'m the guy with the FX24D that failed in an hour

Thanks everyone for the advice. I thought this engine swap was much more difficult. I think I'll give it a try. Dennis

I will work with you on the engine swap if you buy the engine from us, we can label everything, and leave all the bolts in to heip out. you will also want to replace the clutch disc while you have it apart, that alone is worth splitting the tractor for.
Dont worry there are a lot of very nice people on this forum that will give you lots of advise & help thru the whole process.
And you will come out in the end knowing a lot more about your tractor and that alone is worth it too.
Good luck Ernie

Get out your digital camera, take pictures, pictures, pictures. Take lots before you begin to disassemble, and as you disassemble. A picture is worth a thousand words. If you don't see what to do--go look at your computer pics. Believe me, even if it looks obvious when dissasembling, it sometimes is not when re-assembling.

Cfoxmd is absolutely right about the pictures. Also, you'll have no problem with Ernie. We've done business once or twice.

Ditto what cfoxmd said about pictures, I have done it plenty times. Also, don't rush stubborn bolts. Use the right tools and if you have a rusty or stubborn one, give it a shot of PB Blaster and let it sit for a while. It sure beats breaking one off!

Re: I\'m the guy with the FX24D that failed in an hour

After all you've gone through you still are 90% sure that it isn't reconditioned? The Viet Namese do a real good job of repainting. Any tractor I hear about that has under 100 hours & a like new paint job I assume is a Viet tractor. If it is too good to be true , it probably isn't true.
You should be able to find someone to do a swap for way under $3000. You should be able to have the engine completely overhauled for around $3000 with labor.
