I agree with you to a point but everytime you get off your tractor to make the change in height and connect the top link is time that could have been spent making the modification once and for all.

With no disrespect intended to anyone, are you saying one should "do it once and properly"?

Modifying the implement makes sense in an ideal world. However, some people probably don't have the welding or machining capability this might require. Also, modifying my wood splitter is way down on the priority list since I have to shut the tractor off and hook up the hydraulics to the power beyond anyway. Also, the splitter is on a stand and I wheel it up to the tractor instead of backing up to the implement. I may modify it one of these days so I don't have to spend the minute or two to adjust the hook, but a lot of other things will get done first.

I took one day or slightly less and modified all of my implements at once. Made sure all had the proper top bushings to fit as well as the proper lower adaptors. that was back in spring of 2009 and the only implement I have left to modify is the boxblade it was out on a jobsite the day I fitted the rest of the implements.
