Deerlope, Thanks, that looks good. I like the Idea of the tabs to bolt on the guard. That way I can take it off to repair or to utilize the bumper for the suite case weights if I need to. However, does anybody ever use the front weights? Can I take the bucket only off (Quick Attach) and still have enough weight with the FEL frame and arms when mowing with a 1029 pound 72" rotary mower? The attached photo is from the brochure and shows the weights. I guess what I'm trying to decide is should I allow for the weights or forget about designing the improvements for the weights and just keep the FEL on? Anyway, It looks like the head lights will not be an issue.
Thanks, TXDon

I can not answer your ?'s but I have a 5ft rotary cutter and mine handles it OK without the loader. Its nice to mower without having that FEL bouncing along.
It was my unerstanding years ago that the front weights came about for when you were using land plows. They kept the front of the tractor down to keep everything level or on the same plane. I know if I wrong someone will straighten me out.

Another view, by the way that IS "snow" on the ground.

I can relate to the bouncing. The gophers seem to know the exact location to put their mounds to minimize the speed to 4 MPH or start an accelerated, ground leaving, FEL whipping bounce. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Derelope, are the tabs flush with the front side?

Yes they are, and they are cut from 3/8" steel so they won't bend when you bolt up to them. Because as you know your grill guard is curved. I clamp the screen to the guard and marked it. Then cut it to size, bolted it on, then smoothed the rough edges with a grinder.

I have seen but one tractor with the front suite case weights on it. It was a Kubota mower with a bagger on the back. I had posted on one of the forums the necessity of having the weights with the grass collection system and the general consensus was that it wasn't needed. I also checked into the cost and they run about $1.25 per pound for the weights. For that price, I would have to think long and hard before making such a purchase. There are a lot of questions that go unanswered when you see such options pictured. It took me a week just to get the part number from Kubota for the front weight bracket for a BX 22. I bet that if I tried to order it, it would have to be custom made to fill the order. I wonder if anyone ever has ordered one?????

Hmmmmmmmm, I didn't know ya'll had anymore gophers down there in central tejas. I thought the fire ants had moved them out like they have everywhere else they've taken over. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Hi Don. I've come close to getting a limb stuck into my grill but luckily only once did a limb go through my guard, and it was pointed upwards so it just protruded above the hood. I have plenty of room between my bumper and hood, so I've been thinking of using a solid piece of diamond plate and drill holes for U-bolts to be mounted around the tubing on the guard. That way I don't have to do any welding and the diamond plate can be removed. I think you could do the same on your Kubota. My guard is shown in the attached photo. It folds down to open the hood, but the unlocking handle is between the hood and guard, so it won't be blocked by the diamond plate.
