implement-ation misuse = abuse?

I don't know that this qualifies as my manufacturer actually shows how to do this in the manual but others caution against it. I'm talking about using my backhoe as a boom for loading, unloading and carrying lifted items around. I commonly use my BH to move implements in the barn (the one I want is never in front) or to load or unload larger unwheeled items onto or off of my trailer. Well, I seem to have developed a talent for using my belly mower to find tools left in the tall grass--most recently a pick head /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif . . . at least it was a pick head when the smoke cleared from the belt--it might have had a handle before I hit it. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif Amazingly, it did no damage but a bent blade; kudos to New Holland that new ones only cost $15! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I remember that one! I tried that after reading your thread, it worked O.K. except for one little problem. The steel in the forks is a little on the springy ( if that's a word) side and they launched the 25 or so pound stump about 50'. That made the guy standing 10' in front of the tractor and a little to the side just a little nervous. I dig down under stumps with the bucket now to keep from having to calculate a ballistic solution. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif
