I'm in the "leave 'em out in the yard to fend for themselves" camp. Rubber, plastic, etc parts get covered in the 100° summers though. Paint fading and rain are of no concern to me. I do put them on junk plywood to make sliding them into position when hooking up easier. When the backhoe's off it gets covered with a tarp ... but I have no logical reason for doing so. Baby usually stays under some cover when not in use.

Just to share some info on this, I built 4 storage pallets on wheels for my attachments...I roll the pallet out from under one of the shelves in my shed, drop the attachment on it and then just roll it back under the shed shelf. Each pallet fits the attachement and it only took a few hours to build all 4. The only thing I had to do in the shed was to adapt my shelves and hang the support for them from the ceiling instead of the floor to be able to slide the pallets underneath. I kept wondering what to do since my shed is not too big(12x16) and I didn't feel like adding on or building shelves that I may break with the hydraulics. I used some 2x4s, wheels, and old plywood. Got one for the plow, bucket, hoe, and forks (mower is already on wheels) This works really good for me so far. Good luck.

That's one of the reasons that I built the 30 x 38 Morton Building.

If you don't mind my asking, what was the cost on something like this?

Sincerely,

Very nice. Would you care to tell us about what this cost. I am seriously considering a building about that size.

This shot is from the lower half of a two story shed I put up last year. The lower half is used for my 425 and storage of 12 attachments. The upper half is my wifes potting area.

<font color="red"> My 30'x38'x10' Morton Building , complete, cost about $28,000.

I provided a flat level site 50'x60'.

The basic building including all labor and materials with 90mph Wind Rating, 4/12 roof, 2' eaves & overhangs, gutters, 4" concrete floor, a 16'x8' OH door, a 12'x8' OH door, Genie Screw Drive openers, and a 3' walk door cost $23,330.

The Morton Energy Liner including all labor and materials, which adds steel interior walls with R-19 insulation and a 10' steel ceiling with R-38 insulation, cost $3,870.

I installed an underground electric service, lights, and electric heaters for about $1,000.

A year later I could not be happier!!

I just made couple of attachment hangers for two small attachment, such as the stump grinder and the 2 inch receiver. It consist of a piece of plate steel screwed to a wood 4 X 4 that is 14 3/16 inches wide and mounted between two studs in my tool shed. The steel plate (5/16 inch thick and 6 inches wide) sticks about 3/4 of an inch above the top of the 4 X 4. I cut the 4 X 4 back on either side of the steel plate about 3/4 inch to allow the attachment to hang vertical. I will take some pictures tomorrow if I get a chance. The down side is the hoses on the stump grinder keep it from hanging vertical. I have to to think on that one. I may add a spacer to push the steel plate further from the wall. That might work.

Now there’s a great idea. I was thinking I need to do something about storage yesterday. My shed is getting over crowded with deck chairs garden tools ect. I will need to build onto it this summer. Until then I have way too many implements / attachments including my home made stuff taking up precious space in the garage. I need to do something similar. I will be curious to see your setup.

I looked into a Morton Building when i built my 30x40 pole garage last year. I got a quality pole building with 1ft overhangs, wainscoting, 1 12x9 garage door, 1 10x8 ( both insulated) garage door 2 entry doors insulation and a window. I then poured the floor, did all the electrical work and I have $15,500 complete.
Morton wanted a whopping $30,00 for the exact same building, exact same code and snow load. Same metal and same poles..
While they are in fact quality buildings, I don't think that justifies the $14,000 mark up.

I did not get the inside metal or insulated ceiling, I did not price that with Morton either though.
But, to each his own I guess.

I got mine from the local lumber dealer ( Berlin Lumber in Berlin Pa. ) If you look around there are cheaper options, Although your Morton building is very, very nice I couldn't spend that much for just a pole garage...

I just completed my storage building this past summer. I converted a shipping container by adding metal siding (like what they use on pole barns) and a gable roof to disguise the old flat roof design. Cut two window in the side
dressed them up with shutters. I removed the heavy industrial looking swing
doors and added a couple barn style that really made a big difference. It is

Now that's a pretty cool idea. Any chance of seeing some pictures? Inside and out :D

BARRYH,
SORRY NO PICTURES. DON'T HAVE A CAMERA. IT WAS A FUN PROJECT AND BECAUSE IT IS ''PORTABLE'' I DIDN'T NEED A BUILDING PERMIT (I AM IN
THE COUNTRY) AND DIDN'T WANT THE EXTRA REAL ESTATE TAX . IT IS VERY SOLID, AS YOU CAN IMAGINE. SINCE IT IS LOCATED VERY NEAR MY HOUSE, I SPENT EXTRA MONEY ON ALL THE NICE TRIM TO MAKE IT LOOK GOOD. I BOUGHT THE CONTAINER USED AND THE OUTSIDE LOOKED VERY ROUGH.

I like it very clever idea.

Do a search here on TBN for shipping container. Several folks have done the same thing. They are pretty neat. One person, I can't recall who, used two of them spaced a bit apart and built a large roof between the two. It was an interesting project.
