I just bought a brand new JD 5310(55HP) imported from India. It runs good and i got a very good deal on it but my only concern is that it does'nt have warranty on it. Does anyone know where can i buy the warranty. Also if somebody is looking for a new tractor, i think it is a good deal to get the imported one. All the features and parts are same like we have in U.S

If it is brand new it should have a warranty. And are you sure its a 5310, or is it a 51,52,or 5303 series. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

If it's brand new, you bought it from a Deere dealer...right? Then you should have got a warranty.

Or, did you buy a grey market machine? I don't believe any of the Deeres are built in India.

If you bought grey market, I'm afraid you're on your own...the factory or dealer will not honor any warranty and may refuse to work on it. That's a fact of life with grey market. If fact, if it's grey market, Deere can make you remove any logos or any other markings identifying it as a Deere. If you imported it yourself...that's one thiong....but if it was an importer, it's probably stolen merchandise.

If it's grey market, you might want to post this in the grey market forum. Grey market does include equipment manufactured for an export market, then brought back into the country of origin, by the way. I reckon if you take it to a dealer, the serial number will be a give-away.

I know JD is been manufactured in India for sure check the link here.
But the thing is i bought from a dealer in india and he said that the JD does'nt have a worldwide warranty and the warranty he was offering was only valid in India. And the only reason i get this tractor was its very cheap as compared to here.

Welcome to the forum.
I would think a warranty purchased through an insurance company on this India tractor would cost some big bucks. I could be wrong though.
Very puzzling what you have and why no warranty. Where would you get warranty work done? At a Deere dealer? Maybe that dealer would have a lead where you could pick up some insurance.

Do you have the specs on this one? Any link to a site that this dealer has would be welcome.

Your bio would help too. Thanks.

I think your link tells a lot about this one. Hope the buyer, frankie, didn't get taken.

I bet Frankie would be willing to help more of us get that same deal...

Even a JD bought in Canada isn't warranted in the US.

Seems like it might be related to profit for JD. No doubt there are some issues with US certification, but sounds a lot like the prescription drug thing. Or a "what the market will bear" kind of thing. or in other words charge as much as you can get by with /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

For sure slowrev, if we buy them at the price they are, then they will gladly sell them at that price.
And why not, as that is supply and demand. Even the 'other' brands can profit from Deere charging (and getting) what they can, as the other brands can come in right under Deere's and make money too. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif
I suspect that the India market doesn't get the quality that we do, but that is not to say they don't. The labor to make the tractors is much less. To some, that is wrong too. But then, who knows what is "right".
I am happy with the quality and price of my Deere (all of them). /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Yep beenthere, It was just a mini rant, but all multinational corporations do it, sort of corporate protectionsim. I do understand, just a bit ticked off by corps hiding behind govt regs that they push into place.

After all I would not sell my tractor for a lot less than I could get for it /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

It could very well be but I doubt you could buy any brand tractor in one country and have it warranted in another. Alot of the reason prices vary from country to country are frevilous lawsuits, EPA and the such. Everytime someone wins a lawsuit, we all pay for it (in the US for sure).

So will you sell one to me? I sure like the 5000 series... What is the price?

The price i got was $16,250(for new tractor). but after i help him selling tractors he'll give it to me for $15,500 or somewhere like that. If you like a pic and specs give me your email ID since the file size is too big to post it here.
